OC was formed in 1999 with the mission to study and promote the use of electronic mail, databases, and the world wide web to increase communication between people and organizations working to advance the principles of human equality and participatory democracy. Over the years we've held eleven conferences (Grassroots Use of Technology), developed and supported Organizers Database (ODB), an open source database specifically designed for need of activist organizations, and have provided training and support for grassroots groups looking to use technology for their organizing and advocacy work. More recently, we have held our conferences in collaboration with other organizations and networks working to promote progressive and democratic media. It has been a remarkable run. Organizations, big and small, go through transitions. We wanted to bring you up to date on recent developments with the collaborative.
