We've been seriously slacking on the guestmixes as of late, so we're happy the kind Get Down Edits crew were up for doing us a new one. It's a belter of a set too, expertly put together and chuckfull of amazing bits, ranging from moody downtempo tackle to fun disco nuggets. Actually, 'Fun' is quite an apt description of what these guys are all about.

The final Ruffjamz episode comes from the hardest working man on the Glasgow club scene. At just 33 The Earl, aka Chef De Party is already something of a veteran of the Scottish club-scene, having been involved in promoting and DJing at many esteemed club-nights in Scotland's capital. Chef is now making a mark for himself in Glasgow after a recent re-location, setting up his Forever Cookin' promotions business which is working closely with institutions such as The Sub Club, Melting Pot and La Cheetah as well as bigger events such as Wee Chill and Electric Frog. His huge passion for forward thinking deep house and heart-warming soulful sounds are also proving to be popular as the Solid Gold Safari all-dayer he ran at The Halt Bar with DJ Dribbler every Saturday attested. Look out for news of a string of brand new Safari projects coming for 2012 on both sides of the country.

Ghost Whisperer This song first started as a sketch with sounds picked here and there in order to play live at the Netaudio Festival 2009 in Berlin. I had to build a new live set and got inspiration from random sounds I designed. When I was rehearsing it in studio, I thought it was interesting but I didn’t know what was missing but since I was running out of time, I thought I would play it live in Berlin, record it and then keep the best part to be use for the next time I would play. It’s risky but it’s usually when I get my best ideas.

Über die Sommermonate hinweg nahm das Tempo beständig zu in diesem Hamsterrad, in welchem ich mich derzeit befinde. Nicht mehr ich war es, der die Drehgeschwindigkeit bestimmte, sondern das Laufrad selbt gab die immer schwerer zu handhabenden Umdrehungseinheiten vor. Höchste Zeit, es zu verlassen. Wenigstens für ein paar Tage. Dieser Entschluss war sehr schnell gefasst und noch viel schneller umgesetzt. Zehn Tage ohne Fremdbestimmtheit.

I came across what is probably my favourite version of Soul Makossa a few years back on a great compilation called 'Out On A Funky Trip' which catalogued a number of great funk and soul tracks that came out of the legendary Randy's Studio in Jamaica at a time when Kingston's reggae scene was being heavily influenced by the funk revolution coming out of the US. Killer version, killer compilation; definitely hunt down a copy, you won't be disappointed.
