Having different link colors on one page. Do you want to have a different color links on different sections of your website? If your answer is yes then you have come to the right tutorial. Often websites have different color backgrounds on different sections of their website, for example content section of your website might have a white background, in contrast footer section might have a darker background color. Problem arises when you have links on the footer, default link-color is blue therefore it might not be very visible on the darker background. Luckily there is a way to solve this problem with CSS which we are going to do next. 1. First create a new page and Save it as 2LinkColor.html (or anything), then create a CSS style inside this page that will define the link color for the page, in this example we have set the link colors to red.

Therefore all the links in this page will be red, regardless of their position. You need to put the above code betweentags in your page’s source code like this: 2. 3. 4. How to merge pdf files in OSX. Combining pdf documents on an Apple computer is easy. The OSX built in preview application has the ability to merge two different pdf documents together and even move pdf pages within a pdf file. For all versions of OS X prior to Mountain Lion (that is Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion) just follow the instructions below. Things have changed a little with Mountain Lion so I’ve made a new post on merging two pdfs in Mountain Lion, and there’s another slight change with OSX 10.9 Mavericks.

There are lots of websites offering to sell software to merge PDF files, but you don’t need a third party program to do it – it’s built right in to OS X for free. OS X has a bilt in free application called ‘Preview’ that opens automatically whenever you click on a pdf file. It turns out that Preview can also edit and merge pdf files. WRONG WAY: If you drag the new pdf file under the existing one they are not merged – it will only insert a thumbnail link to the second pdf. Here’s how to do it step by step. 1. 2. Links : Link Within a Page.

Linking to anchors is very similar to normal links. Normal links always point to the top of a page. Anchors point to a place within a page. A # in front of a link location specifies that the link is pointing to an anchor on a page. (Anchor meaning a specific place in the middle of your page). To link to an anchor you need to: Create a link pointing to the anchorCreate the anchor itself. An anchor is created using the <a> tag. After doing this, you can make a link pointing to the anchor using the normal <a href> tag, like this: Note: When linking to an anchor on a page you need to put a # in front of the anchor. When you link to an anchor on the same page, simply enter When you link to anchors on external pages use this syntax: Anchors are generally used when you create pages with considerable amounts of text. Pure CSS Vertical Menu. Today we are going to build the second most common menu navigation, the vertical navigation menu.

Here we are going to be using only pure CSS and un-ordered lists to create our menu with three sub-levels. This version of the vertical navigation menu will work in IE5 / IE6 (with CSS pseudo hover fix), IE7, IE8, IE9, as well as FF, Safari and Chrome. To start lets create our menus container block and give it an id of “navigation”: Next we will add our first level menu items: After that, we are going to give our list items some names: Great let’s see what we have so far: Obviously it’s not going to work for us, but I think it’s important to point out the vertical fashion that is given to us by default in the ordered lists. So let begin to add some style to our first level un-ordered list, and its parent container “navigation”.

Our first CSS rule we want to add would be for our container: Here we are going to give our main container some structure by setting its width to 150 pixels. Not too bad. Design floating pages using large fixed background images | Dreamweaver. BACKGROUND IMAGES ARE an integral element of the web design process. They provide a one-step process to creating immediate and beautiful graphics. Typically, they are used as repeating backgrounds to compensate for screen resolutions, header and background graphics in blogs and the basis for buttons, tabs and boxes. This tutorial is going to go beyond standard practice and demonstrate how to use a single large background image and add the fixed attribute to keep it static.

The background image is placed within the body tag which means that any div tags will effectively float above the background. When the scrollbar is called into action the content of the page scrolls up and down as normal but the background image remains in place. Fade Images in Photoshop Using Layer Masks Article.

This article was written in 2011 and remains one of our most popular posts. If you’re keen to learn more about Photoshop, you may find this recent article on getting started with Photoshop of great interest. It doesn’t matter if you are a photographer or a graphic designer, chances are that you have come across the need to fade or blend images in Photoshop. There are many different methods and techniques that will help you to blend images together. One of them is called a layer mask.

Even with layer masks there are different techniques for blending one layer with another. One method is to create a layer mask on a layer, and then use the brush tool to paint over the areas that you want to mask or blend with black. Any positive value other than white will allow you to implement a soft mask. The other method is to use the gradient tool to blend an image in a uniform manner. Step 1: Bring Your Image Into Photoshop Open your image in Photoshop.

Step 2: Unlock your background layer.
