DIY Reverse Ombre Curtains. Ombre Pleated Pillow Cover. More throw pillows. These are for our basement/ family room. I love using pleats to add texture, and prefer the geometric shape they create. This technique uses contrasting fabric strips to create a pleated ombre texture, that is sewn down for added patterning in a zig-zag. I selected different shades of blue to create an ombre pattern in the pleats. Ombre Pleated Pillow Cover SUPPLIES: -pillow form (16") -backing fabric (1 yard) -scraps for colored strips -invisible thread 1. For a 16" pillow, you'll cut strips for the pillow front: Colors: 11 strips 2.5" wide and 17" long (for my ombre: 1 white, 2 of each transition color, then 4 of darkest) Backing: 12 strips 2" wide and 17" long I usually prefer envelope pillow covers, so for the back of the pillow you'll need rectangles: 17"x 12" and 17" x 10" 2.
Using a 1/4" seam allowance, alternate between a backing strip and your contrasting colored strips to chain sew them into a panel, making sure to sew your ombre pattern as you go. 3. 4. 5. 6. The way these pillows are constructed is both simple and suprizing. I loved stuffing them and watching them "bloom" in the last steps. They are also pretty quick to make, and kind of addictive. I don't know about you, but for me it's like being a kid in a candy store {without a creepy Willy Wonka breathing down your neck}...eye candy everywhere you look! You can throw everything in your basket guilt free by pinning it and then forget about it two seconds later when you see something else you love. In my Pintrest I have a page called "Gotta Do This". I finally made a goal that I would actually start DOING the things on my Gotta Do This List. And, I am proud to say I have 2 of them accomplished now!
Only like a hundred left to go. My goal is to make at least one thing a week from Pintrest. First on my list, a quilt. So, I clicked on the link. I also liked the stripes of this one. And I got to work. And a close up... I am madly in love with it. Now, I have to bring myself to start on the other quilt for the top bunk. And, for my next week's Pintrest Copycat: I love these bathroom printables from J. and A. and Co. blog! DIY Lined Roman Shades. Hey friends! I get asked about my roman shades all the time.
I decided it was time to change mine out, and I thought this would be a great time to attempt a tutorial. You should be warned…. I feel like writing this tutorial is harder than making the darn shades… Just saying So, here we go. You need to measure your window. Fabric… I decided to use good old drop cloth for mine! Cheap and easy, and I will be stenciling it in a later step. Your fabric needs to be cut 1″ wider than your window width, and 8″ longer than your window length. You will also need your liner fabric. Lay your fabrics out. Now you will attach both pieces together like a giant pillowcase with the top and bottom open. Now for the dowels… I use dowel rods to keep my shades folding clean and pretty.
I use Aleene’s Tacky Glue to attach the dowels to the fabric. You’re going to be attaching your dowels on the inside of your fabric piece, not your liner. Measure 9″ up from the bottom of your hem. Almost done I promise! That’s it! Fantastic Flors. Home Decor. I am a big fan of Flor carpet tiles. There are so many interesting combinations that you can do to create a custom rug of almost any size. And if you have pets or kids, the ability to be able to change out tiles if a stain is just too much to clean is absolutely priceless. The most recent additions to the Flor collection are really fabulous . Some are quite funky and some really play with texture. Now I just need to find some spare floor space for another rug... My Living Room Area Rug: FLOR Carpet Tiles~ While I was in the process of looking for area rugs to use in my Living Room Design, I received a catalog in the mail from FLOR.
I was familiar with FLOR Carpet Tiles, but when I opened the catalog, I was smitten with their new designs. For those that are not familiar with FLOR, it is an "innovative system of carpet squares that you assemble to create custom rugs, runners or [even] wall-to-wall designs. " I was not only impressed by their designs, but I liked the idea that I could put the patterns together myself to create my own unique, custom rug. I had a hard time narrowing down my choices, but I finally decided on Lasting Grateness in black. I liked the bold, graphic pattern. (That, and I couldn't quite convince the Hubby that the zebra print would look good in the room. Lol!)
