Homemade singing telegrams. The following is a post from Kristen.

Homemade singing telegrams

My inspiration for this project came from the movie “The Sound of Music,” where receiving a telegram from somebody sounded special, more special than just receiving a letter. Being a musical person myself, I find it very important to incorporate music into the lives of our children as much as possible. Therefore, I came up with the idea of crafting singing telegrams.

Christmas Traditions: Three Gifts

Just as the Christ child received three gifts from the Wise Men each of our children receives three gifts. (Of course they also receive gifts from grandparents and friends but from our immediate family the number is three.) Two come from mom and dad and the third comes from the sibling gift exchange. Those sibling gifts are always homemade. It is so delightful to help them as they secretly scheme and plan, sew and build the perfect gift for one another. The gifts we give as parents usually fall into two categories: one that is meaningful and one that goes along with their interests or talents. 12 Days of Gift-mas- Gift #9. Homemade Detective Kit! Make Christmas Clutter-Free with Consumable Gifts

Having just recently pared down the playroom, the last thing I wanted was more, well, junk filling our house. I decided to chose a couple of needed articles of clothing and then only gave consumable gifts. Consumable gifts are a great way to have something to put under the tree to rip open on Christmas morning, without cluttering your home or the homes of others. Here are five of my favorite consumable gifts to give or receive: 1. Think about some of the purchased treats your kids love and ask for all the time, but don’t usually make the “budget cut.” Truthfully, my husband and I do this for each other, too. 2. My sister-in-law once gave my children a three-pack of those “fizzy bath bomb” balls that you drop in the bath tub. Hostess Gift: Good-With-Everything Thai Sweet Chili Sauce.

I spent all weekend dreading today because this morning I was supposed to finish up my first gift guide for this week. With all that’s going on in the world and most of our lives these days, sometimes the idea of buying something or dealing with shopping can seem a little hollow. Handmade Hair Bands and Gift Tags (Tutorial and Free Download)

I'm guilty of this -- I use that section as a kind of notebook to write where I would use that idea, what I would use it for, how I would adapt it, etc.

Unless you click the link and read the actual post, you can't be exactly sure what you are getting yourself into. That is what happened with today's inspiration project: The description said "t-shirt bracelets" and I thought, "yes, please". But when I actually went to The Pink and Blue Blog and tracked down the post it turned out to be a necklace project. The fabric of my shirt was pretty thin so I used twice as many flower "petals" to make it cute and fluffy. Vastly improved, I think. It is harder than you might think to take a picture of yourself in a mirror, without showing too much of your double chin and messy hair, and still have it be in focus.
