Easter Scripture Study – The Empty Tomb: Christ is Risen « That Good Part. Christ, because He is living, can offer us life. “Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself. And now, my sons, I would that ye should look to the great Mediator, and hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit;” – 2 Nephi 2:27-28Christ is the living water, the bread of Life, the beginning and the end, the life, the resurrection.

This day means different things to many people and I’m sure we all spend it in a way that is personal and true to ourselves. There is no denying though that when Easter starts to approach, our shops and bakeries are filled with the delicious aroma of spices emanating from sticky sweet hot cross buns.
While we can’t seem to escape the fact that these delightful treats start to pop up just after Christmas, traditionally they are only enjoyed on Good Friday. How they are enjoyed is also a personal choice, toasted or untoasted, butter or nutella or just fresh and warm straight from the bag as you leave the shop. When I was younger, hot cross buns only came in the traditional variety, with fruit, spices and orange peel (much to the disgust of my childhood self). Easter Video: The Atonement and Little Children. How little children understand and experience the Atonement is a question that LDS songwriter, Shawna Edwards, found herself pondering when she felt inspired to create a new Easter song for the children in her ward Primary titled: The Miracle. After I heard the song and was deeply touched by it, I was fortunate to be, through a mutual friend, introduced to Shawna, via Facebook. I told her that I wanted to share her beautiful song with my blog readers and that -- I'd love to quote you about what inspired you to write the song, create the video and your hopes for when people see/hear it -- along with any other thoughts/information you'd like to share. I love adding a personal touch whenever possible. I am so glad I asked her those questions, because she messaged me and let me know that she "took some time and wrote the story of the songe: She begins her story by explaining how the idea to write the song came about: "“Jesus is a God of Miracles.”

To celebrate the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it means in our lives is truly to reflect on the whole purpose of why we are here and on HE who makes it possible for us to be redeemed from our sins. Many names by which Christ is known are included in The Living Christ, consequently there are also days of the countdown that focus on a name given. Hopefully this will aid in understanding all the characteristics of Jesus Christ and how we can try to be more like Him in our daily lives. Further, the date of Easter makes it difficult to plan for and get excited about, while Christmas is fixed for western Christians on December 25.
The date of Easter, dependent as it is upon a lunar calendar, moves around from year to year, often catching us by surprise. But in his Christmas message in 2000, President Gordon B. Hinckley made it clear that Easter really is the more important of the two holidays: “There would be no Christmas if there had not been Easter. With this in mind, many Latter-day Saints wonder how they, as individuals and as families, can use Easter and the days leading up to it to better celebrate the atonement of Jesus Christ—his overcoming sin and death through the Redemption and the Resurrection.
