Summery Peach Cooler | Dashrecipes.com. Healthy soda | 8 Best Sodas. "Healthy" Soda? We've said it before and will probably say it a hundred times more: Soda is toxic stuff. Not only is most of it full of diabetes-inducing high-fructose corn syrup, but drinking too much of the bubbly stuff has also been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. It contains genetically modified ingredients (GMOs) and phosphates, preservatives that have been linked to kidney disease and accelerated aging. Obviously, not something you want as part of a regular diet. We looked high and low for healthy soda alternatives, free of the worst offenders in traditional sodas, such as GMOs or artificial caramel coloring that can be contaminated with carcinogens.

Ginger Lemongrass Fizz ~ A Guest Post by Deanna of Teaspoon of Spice | FoodBabbles. For nearly a year now, I’ve been doing First on the First with Carrie. (Wow!

That went fast!) At the beginning of the year, she and I decided why should we have all this fun all by ourselves? So we invited people to join us in trying something new each month and the response was wonderful! In the past few months we’ve built a great little group of people baking and blogging along with us and we keep growing! I always mention that “we” are making these things, but you all have no idea who “we” are. In the coming months I’ll be hosting some of our First on the First bloggers here and introducing them to you. Hi all – I’m Deanna– one half of the Teaspoon of Spice blog, which I write with my fellow dietitian and business partner, Serena.

Along with running my food/health communications business with Serena, Teaspoon Communications, I have spent the last few years diving into social media and loving every minute of it (heck, what did we do with our time before blogs, Twitter and Facebook??) Nest of Posies: FIZZ ~ my new go to drink. Can we talk about my new obsession? Don’t you just love the name? There’s so easy & fun to make + there’s endless possibilities.

But let’s talk about what you may not know. There guilt less! Lo cal I’ll go ahead and add the word healthy Refreshing & thirst quenching too Perfect for one serving or more Y’all know I’m on a diet, right? FIZZ was my answer. Here’s a run down of some of my favorites ~ remember your imagination is your recipe. You know that trick with the mason jar & the blender blade. I cannot say enough about the easy clean up as well. I think this would be fabulous at a party. This one below, is my fave. The basic recipe for any FIZZ - fill your glass of choice 3/4 full of sparkling water add juice/nectar of your choice of fruit(s) to your desired liking (blackberry, blueberry, pomegranate, lime, pineapple, strawberry, raspberry, orange ~ etc) herbs if you like (rosemary, mint, basil, cilantro) ice, ice baby some may find they have to add additional sweeteners the sky is the limit Hello!

Papaya and coconut smoothie. Papaya and coconut smoothie I just got back from the oriental market and found this extra large papayas. I haven’t had papaya in a long time so I figured I buy a couple and use them for smoothies. It turns out I also got tons of coconut milk so mixing the two was something that I really wanted to experiment with. I just love the coconut flavor so I knew this would be a great hit for me and my kids. Smoothies are a great way to get the daily recommended value of fruits and veggies. If you have a tough time getting these into your diet this is the way to go. For this one you can also add fresh mangoes, pine apple and if you prefer instead of coconut milk you can do soy or almond milk. The flax seed meal it is also optional in the smoothie but it does have great anti inflammatory properties as well as it decreases cholesterol so take advantage of it and add it in!!
