Summer Memrory Verse Mania. My 3 Monsters: Scripture Post-Its {Free Book of Mormon Printables} Fiery darts of the adversary and our defense. 23 And they said unto me: What meaneth the rod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree?

Fiery darts of the adversary and our defense

24 And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction. (1 Nephi 15:23-24) Lately, one question I found that I had was this: just what are the fiery darts of the adversary? Obviously “fiery darts” is being used as an image for an idea, so what is the fiery dart representing?

Fiery darts are poison darts. They spread infection and corruption. Or they may not even be directed at us; they can be directed at church leaders and against God and we’ll still feel like we got hit. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. The shield of faith quenches the fiery darts, causing them to lose effect.

Celebrating Purim

The picture at the top of the post should give you a clue. Purim is a celebration of the great deliverance of the Jews by Esther. This year it began at sundown Wednesday, March 7, which means it was celebrated yesterday. But in Jerusalem, Shushan and other ancient walled cities, it is celebrated a day later, which means you can still celebrate it today! Purim received its name from the pur (plural purim), or lots, Haman used to determine the day of destruction for the Jews were now viewed by the Jews as a great blessing. Here is a description of a Purim celebration from the Old Testament Student Manual: "The day before Purim is the Fast of Esther, a sunrise to sundown abstinence from food and drink. zucchini cupcakes with caramel frosting

I found this zucchini cupcake recipe from Taste of Home and had to try it. It has caramel frosting and knowing that my husband, Kevin loves caramel almost as much as me, I figured it would be a winner. We all loved them and Kevin and my boys licked the frosting bowl clean before I could even finish frosting the cupcakes!
