Room Tour: Fletcher's Nursery. I'm was so thrilled when Chassity from Look Linger Love emailed me to offer up first dibs on these photos of her new son's nursery. She has done such a lovely job here! Here's Chassity with a little tour, and as always, the sources are listed at the very bottom. After learning that we were pregnant with a boy I definitely had a moment of panic over decorating the nursery. I had been in "girly mode" with Fletcher's older sister Lilly, so to switch gears was a little intimidating. All needless worry of course as boys' rooms are definitely just as much fun.

I started by inviting some of my favorite interior designer friends to contribute to a Nursery Design Series to get some ideas rolling. My main goal for the room was to give Fletcher an eclectic, comfortable, and safe space to call his own. The nursery renovation took probably 3 months from beginning to end. What do I think makes the space? (Thanks again, Chassity!! Wall Color - Valspar's Gray Plank. Club House Inspired Boys Room. This club house inspired boys room is fantastic! This room was designed by Nicole Salceda as her son’s ”big boy” hangout. She wanted to give him room to grow into and I think he’ll love this room for many years. Nicole says, “I love navy and red together and with the modern greek key design on the bed it kept it from being too littly boyish.” Those brick red accents really make this room seem so dramatic.

I love how the vaulted ceiling is emphasized by the focal wall. Nicole says, “I was inspired by all these diy wood walls on pinterest, so with the help of my patient hubby the room really came together.” These racks with hooks from Ikea work well for art display, backpack storage and more. This hanging basket chandelier from West Elm completes the restful, fun look of the room. Decorating by Color: Color-Blocking Decorating Ideas - Martha Stewart. Aviation Nursery. DIY Ballet Bar. I can’t wait to show you what my amazingly talented sister-in-law, Laci created (we call her the Ana White of the family)!

My little neice is one of the cutest ballerina dancers ever and has been doing it for 3 years and LOVES it. Laci said Katie’s only complaint was... "I can't practice at home mom, I need a mirror and a bar.” Now she has no excuses! Ballerina Bar Tutorial First, she prepped the wall and used four mirror clips, two on bottom that rested on the baseboards and two spring loaded clips above that just happened to conveniently be placed in studs. Next, she hung a 4’x5’ mirror… …then attached the beadboard… …and painted the wall an adorable pink color (Porter Paints Rosebud). For the ballet bar she used a railing rod and rod holders… …and voila! She has a beautiful ballet bar… perfect addition to Katie’s room!

Inspiration Home: Boards. Colorful Mosaic Wall on the cheap!!! Like a lot of people, I live in an apartment. The type of apartment complex that doesn't allow painting of any kind. I really try to jazz up the blah eggshell walls with color, whether it be colorful artwork or colored lampshades that cast a hue on the wall. Well, I wanted to step it up a notch with my décor beyond that and do something totally different with my bedroom wall that would make visitors come in and say, "Wow! You did that? " And the cool thing is that I did it all for under $20! Yep, for $20 bucks you can get a totally rockin' wall that is full of color and will brighten up any room! What do you need? – Multicolored scrapbook page packs (I purchased mine at Target and 50 sheets came to a pack; I purchased 2 packs)– Aleene's Tacky Dots (available at Michaels)– tape measure So, I'm not going to do a full-blown step by step tutorial, but I'll give you a very easy rundown of what I did.

Honestly, I'm not a by the book/measurement kinda girl, so a lot of this was eyeballed. Alexa. Our New Master Bedroom | SnugasaBugBaby. This post has been featured It’s been a long time coming, this room…and this post. I have already told you about this construction project, this dresser, this nightstand, this bed, this headboard, these comforters, this frame, this wreath, this closet, and these doors: But let’s back up a bit and take this from the beginning, shall we? This is what this room looked like when we moved into our home 3.5 years ago: I’d say it was actually about the nicest room in the house…but was sort of awkwardly long and narrow: At first this room was our guest bedroom and the narrow nook was my sewing space. While we had the room stripped for that construction project, I convinced the hubby that we also needed to raise the ledge that went around the perimeter of the room.

As I told you in this post, I am really not a fan of the low ledge that you often find in garden level rooms…but I DO love the look of board and batten. It sounds simple when stated in just a few sentences. But I do love it SO MUCH more. Lessthanperfectlifeofblissbedroom.jpg 640×480 pixels. Doing It All Wrong In The Bedroom.

So, um, we recently upgraded from a queen to a king mattress. . . Oh Em Gee, people. Every time I walk past my bed, all I wanna do is belly flop onto it and bury my head in my 800 pillows. And on a slightly random sidenote, I'm gonna let you in on a little bit of bedroom biznis. Hubs and I? We don't share the bed fairly. You know what? Instead of explaining, I'll just sketch it for you. Yeah-- I kind of studied art in college, so I've pretty much got mad artist skills. So, I'm on the right. I just thought you should know. But I digress. So! I always felt the need for a little sumfin' sumfin' above the headboard.

Now, I have a sign, already. And I still love it. Listen while I chat. So-- this new sign-- here's what I did. A little bit of the dark walnut stain that's already around the boudoir, some vinyl to paint on my little message, and we're about done, here. I have the best sisters in laws. So what does my sign say?

" Oh, it's the other favorite song from my favorite band. Yeah, baby, yeah. Picture | #472069. 50 Ideas For Car Themed Boys Rooms. DIY Tufted Headboard. I’ve made a couple of diamond-tufted headboards now (Joanna’s was only my second though) and I feel like I have a pretty good sense of the easiest DIY approach now. For another tufted headboard tutorial I did, check out this post. I would say any upholstery job involving tufting is sort of an advanced DIY, but is this project definitely doable (maybe even fun?). Gone are the days when I spend hours mapping out and drilling holes in plywood!

I’ve been using pegboard and it is PERFECT for these headboard projects. Cheap, lightweight and sturdy enough. You’ll be hanging the pegboard on the wall so it’s okay that the board is not completely rigid. I had Home Depot cut down the board for me, so it was just the right size for Alex and Joanna’s queen bed. I had three rows of nine buttons and two rows of eight for a total of 45 tufts. (!) I purchased my 3″ upholstery foam at Joann’s with a 50% off coupon. One of the secrets of getting deep tufts is removing the foam where the buttons go. Vintage Academia Meets Sports Buff Collector (or something like that): A Teen Boy's Room. The funny thing about kids is that when you give them bedrooms, they usually want to actually live in them.

And decorate them using their own ideas that reflect their interests. And show off their collections and knick-knacks and do-dads and such. And this can really cramp the style of moms who dream of neat-as-a-pin, straight-from-our-favorite-design-catalogs, totally unrealistic kids' rooms. (Not that I know this from experience or anything.) But, really, it can be challenging sometimes when trying to come up with design solutions for kids' rooms that work for both kids and parents.

He's such a great kid with lots of different interests that I wanted to incorporate into his space. One of the most recent additions came about when I found two vintage basketball rims at Goodwill a few weeks ago. We used vintage pennants that my brother collected when he was little to make a colorful statement on one wall... And his Boy Scout Merit Badge poster hangs by his desk... Hope you like it , too!
