This practice is illegal but some people do it because a lot cheaper, not so much because of tax - although that will increasing rise - but (according to the gas industry), because bottled gas costs a lot more due to higher costs of distribution, storage and dispensation. Claims are made that using Autogas in LPG appliances is dangerous and/or may damage the appliances.
This does appear to have credence but becomes confused by the full reasons not necessary being explained - nor is it always so.
