Mission The mission of the City of Hope Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences is to teach students to be outstanding research scientists in chemical, molecular, and cellular biology. Graduates of this program, awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in biological sciences, will be equipped to address fundamental questions in the life sciences and biomedicine for careers in academia, industry and government. Graduate School History City of Hope’s commitment to education led to the creation of the Graduate School of Biological Sciences, with the first class of students entering in 1994.
