To say that we here at ComicsAlliance are fans of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time is understating things almost as much as saying that we’re fans of Dinosaur Comics creator Ryan North.

Ryan North Talks 'Adventure Time' Comic: "The Zombies Represent Friendship" [Interview

They’re like chocolate and peanut butter for us, which is why were were all thrilled at the announcement that North would be writing the all-new Adventure Time comic that’s coming out in February from Boom! Studios. That’s why today, we’ve sat down with North for an interview about his first foray into writing a licensed comic, whether or not he’s going to adapt his signature Dinosaur Comics style to the adventures of Finn and Jake, and how friendship is like a zombie outbreak. ComicsAlliance: How did they approach you to write for the Adventure Time comic? It seems like the creators of the show follow at least a few webcomics — there was an episode where the Ice King hid inside an animated version of Kate Beaton’s Fat Pony — so were they already fans of your work?

Bruegel, Pieter the Elder. Pieter Bruegel (about 1525-69), usually known as Pieter Bruegel the Elder to distinguish him from his elder son, was the first in a family of Flemish painters.

Bruegel, Pieter the Elder

He spelled his name Brueghel until 1559, and his sons retained the "h" in the spelling of their names. Pieter Bruegel the Elder, generally considered the greatest Flemish painter of the 16th century, is by far the most important member of the family. He was probably born in Breda in the Duchy of Brabant, now in The Netherlands. Accepted as a master in the Antwerp painters' guild in 1551, he was apprenticed to Coecke van Aelst, a leading Antwerp artist, sculptor, architect, and designer of tapestry and stained glass.

Bruegel traveled to Italy in 1551 or 1552, completing a number of paintings, mostly landscapes, there. She Has No Head! – No, It’s Not Equal

Why you ask? Well, because I knew it would cause a ****storm, as any comics column that’s remotely controversial does, especially it seems when written by a woman. I had also decided, partway through writing She Has No Head! That I was going to take a decidedly more positive tact for the column, primarily focusing on books that are good, and what I’d like to see more of, supporting creators that are getting it right. But there’s a lot of talk these days, and many good columns written about women in comics, feminism, and in particular the sexism of comics by way of the objectification and hyper-sexualization of female characters and related issues. “The, “Comic books are sexist to women” argument does not work, simply because it is not just women who are being objectified. This particular comment was on the excellent David Brothers piece for Comics Alliance. 1. 2. 3. 4. Pulp Sunday: The AVENGERS, EARTH's FIRST HEROES.

Pulp Sunday: The AVENGERS, EARTH's FIRST HEROES

~~ Hello Pulp Friends, with the AVENGERS movie been released this week (and being one of the greatest superhero movies to date), I couldn't help sharing on Pulp Sunday my take on this beloved team of heroes: Hulk the Druid (a Celtic primeval force of nature), Captain Amerigo (from the New World), Thor himself, and an unknown mysterious clad-armored gladiator known as Iron Man . Together they are The AVENGERS, EARTH's FIRST HEROES and they fight evils and undead armies. Think of MARVEL meets LOTR. This idea would fit perfectly in one of those WHAT IF mini at MARVEL: maybe if I put together the full pitch they might let me do it too ;) The second piece illustrating the Avengers fighting the dead in the snow was drawn by my dear friend Steve Gordon, who penciled the piece inspired by my idea.

Planning to do more art about this, like the single shot of Thor riding the horse above. Have a great Pulp Sunday everyone. Pup 15. Impulse Freak - Cayetano Garza's cay001.
