The Urban Homesteading Assistance Board , or UHAB , is a 35-year old non-profit organization in New York City that helps create and support self-help housing. UHAB works with residents to acquire, rehabilitate and manage their apartments. In the process the organization creates and helps sustain high-quality limited-equity housing cooperatives that are to remain affordable, in perpetuity, to people of low and middle-income. [ 1 ] In 1974 UHAB started as a resident advocacy and training group serving residents in foreclosed or abandoned properties in New York City. [ 1 ] Since then, UHAB has evolved from a largely assistance and training-focused organization into one of the city's leading developers of affordable housing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_Homesteading_Assistance_Board

The theories are treated in four parts: a short historical introduction, a discussion of the view of knowledge presupposed by the theory, an account of how the theory treats learning and student motivation, and finally, an overview of some of the instructional methods promoted by the theory is presented.
