It’s a simple list of 10 things I wish I’d heard when I was in college. All advice is autobiographical.

http://www.makethelist.net/the-top-5-astronomical-events-to-witness-before-you-die/ In the age of internet, television, and Lady Gaga, it’s easy to ignore the dazzling displays the sky gives us every night. In ancient times, however, human civilizations based their entire calendar, and thus their way of life, upon what they saw in the cosmos. While humanity’s interest in astronomy has diminished over the centuries, the sky remains nonetheless spectacular.
Everyone loves the idea of curling up with a book – but how about within a bookcase ? The Cave is a combination bookcase and lounge chair design that provides a comfortable, cozy and visually secluded place to wrap yourself in your favorite volume and read for a while with a soft overhead light. For children, the bookcase chair provides a nifty crawl space and it can even be a pet retreat. Placed against the wall it becomes a cozy nook and put in the center of a room it becomes a spatial divider with accessibility through its center. While the Cave is a nifty design it is not the only conceptual furniture for combining lounging and book storage : http://dornob.com/bookcase-chairs-combine-book-storage-reading-space/

DIYLILCNC - A low-cost, open-source desktop CNC mill. The DIYLILCNC project is a free & open-source set of plans for an inexpensive, fully functional 3-axis CNC mill that can be built by an individual with basic shop skills and tool access. CNC devices are used to fabricate physical objects with a high degree of precision. Some CNC devices, including the DIYLILCNC, feature a gantry-mounted cutting tool (like a router) that can move in two or more directions. The operation of the tool is controlled by a computer, which is tasked with translating a digital design into actual tool movement. The DIYLILCNC can be built for around $700. http://diylilcnc.org/

First and foremost, "How to Make Crappy Stuff Awesome" is an exercise in diagnosis. After lugging a bent bicycle wheel through two rush hours on three different subways to the Williamsburg home of 3rd Ward, I still only had a faint notion of what I wanted to do with it: Namely, build a coffee table that spun like a Lazy Susan. Tim Dowse, the mastermind behind the class, told me to start by looking at what I couldn't change (the spokes) and what I could work with (the post). "You don't have to keep an object intact," he said. "You want to keep the idea of the object." To maximize the table's bicycle essence, I decided to use clear plexiglass for the surface, resting it on the center bolt and supporting it with plastic spacers around the rim. http://www.popularmechanics.com/home/how-to-plans/metalworking/4326023

Brrr!!! I don’t know where you are, but here in the mountains of western North Carolina, it’s cold. Seriously cold. Dangerously cold. And while I can layer up in wool and flannel, bracing most of my body from the ravages of dry, frigid weather, I can’t hide my face.
