The incandescent bulbs that shone so merrily in the Queen's palaces all her life and yours, Dear Reader, is going to be phased out by the federal government. They will eventually no longer be allowed to be sold in the United States. People will be looking for creative things to do with all those incandescent lamps (subject of a future Trashy Wench blog, I'm sure) and all the bulbs in those lamps, regardless of whether they are working or burnt out bulbs.

The incandescent bulbs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, all with wonderful curves of all shapes, sort of like the Wench and her wonderful female friends! Here are some pictures of bright ideas of what others have done with their curvy little bulbs: Hot Air Balloon Decorations Mini Terrariums Plant rooters and vases. Friday is Art Day – Melting Crayon Art « stressure

My youngest and I saw this project in the morning and by noon we were ready to try it on our own. We got sister out of bed (she’s a teenager and it’s summer!) And she joined in the fun also. How we did it! My youngest loves the bright colors and wanted to do it with all the colors that was on the website, she is my lil rainbow. We read about it on multiple sites so we knew that the blow dryer has the potential to splash the wax to different areas. We concentrated on the mid section of the wrapper so it wouldn’t splash and switched back and forth between an area of about 7 crayons. Now onto her sister’s art piece. With hers some of the crayon tips broke off onto the canvas and it looked “clumpy” on the top. That was it, took about two hours and cost was limited to canvas price (we got a 5 pack for $20) and boxes of crayons (it was back to school sale so they were $1.99 for 64 crayons and we grabbed 3 packs).

Sun Jar DIY – Do it Yourself Sun Jar

A fellow fp girl sent this to me a couple weeks back and i’ve been thinking about it ever since! I can think of a million reasons why these would be awesome… as apartment décor, as outdoor party décor, and – wouldn’t they be the best thing EVER for camping in general or at a festival? Just let them sit in the sun all day, and they’ll last all night! I am absolutely going to make some to bring with me to bonnaroo this year. Things I'd Like To Make / diy project: karen’s coffee can lanterns. Confessions of a Craftaholic. By Christina Buttafuoco (Zeta Tau Alpha | High Point University) One of the most exciting parts of getting into a sorority is all the presents you receive during Big/Little week and after initiation!

Confessions of a Craftaholic

This time around, however, I was doing the giving, not the receiving. I may have gone a bit overboard spoiling my little, but crafting turned out to be addicting. These are the lessons, tips, and tricks I learned while my room was transformed into crafting central. 1. The best investment I made at Hobby Lobby (for those who don’t know, it’s the equivalent of Michael’s) was in a container of rhinestones. 2. Modge Podge is the wonder glue. 3. DIY: Make your own Halloween dinnerware. So now you've seen my interpretation of a Raven themed dinner party, I wanted to show you how I made the dinnerware. If you are like me you probably oogle over the holiday themed dishes but quickly shy away since you don't want to shell out for a whole set just for one celebration. You can easily make white flowers any color you want with these directions for creating a beautiful spring bouquet. Supplies: Food coloring White flowers (carnations, daisies or roses) Vases Warm water Directions: Fill each vase with about a cup of warm water. Put 20 drops of food coloring in each vase, mixing the color in with the water. Try combining colors, i.e. putting blue and red food coloring in a vase to make purple flowers. How this works: Flowers draw up water from their stems to their petals.

Happy-Go-Lucky: Easy Candle Upcycle

I have an entire shelf of them hidden behind picture frames! So in an effort to declutter and get a little things organized before we decorate for the holidays I decided to take these ugly things and make brand new layered candles. This was such an easy project to do.
