Codenamed Froyo, the new OS is said to be more faster, enterprise friendly, offers a rich set of APIs and support for tethering and portable hotspots.

The Android operating system moved into second place in sales for the first quarter, outpacing the iPhone OS for the first time while still falling short of the BlackBerry platform, according to the NPD Group. According to NPD, Google's Android took a 28 percent share of the U.S. smart phone market during the first quarter, behind Research In Motion's 36 percent and ahead of iPhone OS at 21 percent. I was initially very critical when I first saw Microsoft introduce the KIN ONE and TWO because I believe it is after a rapidly-shrinking demographic (also, what's with all the capitalized letters?). But, after playing with the KIN ONE for about a week, I want to give Microsoft credit for delivering the best cloud-centric device there is on the market right now. Read our full review of the devices for a more thorough take of the positives and negatives, as I still think these are ill-fitting handsets in a rapidly evolving world. Despite all the flaws, what I dig about the KIN phones is that Microsoft understands that the future of computing is going to be mobile devices that are just terminals for "the cloud". As for the user interface, the KIN phones make some fascinating choices about interaction metaphors and how you should look at a phone. It's an incredibly visually-oriented operating system that emphasizes swipes and big, bold pictures.
