Earlier today, Samsung took to the stage during Unpacked events in both New York as well as London to announced the new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. During the event, the two devices were announced with little surprise; we knew what was coming, but Samsung bringing back the BlackBerry Keyboard was something of a surprise to us all.

Either way, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are both official and depending on where you are you can pre-order them today and they’ll be available starting August 21st. One thing that we didn’t see was their new round smartwatch that we’ve been seeing a lot more of recently, that’s because it’s coming during IFA, held next month in Berlin. Right at the end of their Unpacked event in New York, Samsung threw out a quick, “blink and you’ll miss it” teaser for the next Samsung smartwatch. Samsung didn’t announce any concrete plans during the event today, but they did show a slide of Berlin display on the watch’s display.

Android Headlines sur Twitter : "Alcatel White OneTouch Watch Now Available #Android #Google... Alcatel White OneTouch Watch Now Available. Alcatel took what might be construed as a difficult choice with their own smartwatch, the Alcatel OneTouch Watch. Alcatel have used Android for a number of smartphones over the years and so it was something of a surprise when they announced a new smartwatch that wasn’t powered by Android Wear. However, there are a few reasons for this decision – it appears that Alcatel were aiming to bring a less expensive smartwatch to the market and so wrote their own operating system for the watch. Alcatel’s operating system is lightweight compared with Android Wear and so the device has lower powered internals. Furthermore, the Alcatel is compatible with Android and iOS devices that support Bluetooth Low Energy.

In practice, this means the Android device must run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or later and include Bluetooth 4 Low Energy, and for iOS, it needs to be an iPhone 4S or later running iOS 7, or later. XiaoMi Overtakes HTC to Become the Fifth Most Used Smartphone Brand in China. Samsung and Apple are the clear leaders when it comes to smartphone manufacturers. They are dominant not just here in the US, but all over the world. Chinese brand XiaoMi is making big moves though.

Former Google VP Hugo Barra is now working with the Chinese OEM. They are doing something right, because XiaoMi has overtaken HTC as the fifth most used handset manufacturer in China. According to a market survey conducted by AVANTI, XiaoMi is now the fifth most used smartphone brand in China, bumping HTC down to number 6. AVANTI is a research division of TrendForce. According to this survey from TrendForce, 60% of Chinese consumers are interested in purchasing the new HongMi Phone from XiaoMi. XiaoMi only sells its handsets through its website and only produces enough phones for the demand that it expects. Nokia ranked third in the TrendForce survey, with Huawei coming in at number four. Xiaomi, Snags top Google Executive, Hugo Barra - But Who is Xiaomi? When I heard the news that Google’s Vice President of Android Product Management, Hugo Barra, was leaving Google to go to the Chinese company Xiaomi, my first question was, what in the world is Xiaomi? After doing some digging, I found that Xiaomi is a Chinese smart phone manufacturer, who has taken over the Chinese smart phone market. Xiaomi is also relatively new, they released their first smart phone in August of 2011, and have since been on a war path of expansion in mainland China, and now seems to be looking to take their popular phones outside the boundaries of China, hence Xiaomi’s acquisition of Google executive Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s current flagship device, known as the Mi-2S, is a 4.3 inch, 1.7 gHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 powered, 720P, smart phone, running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

Not too bad, but nothing groundbreaking for a phone released in June of this year (2013). Home » Xiaomi, Snags top Google Executive, Hugo Barra – But Who is Xiaomi? Category: Android News. Samsung-gear-is-samsungs-take-on-the-smartwatch-reportedly-coming-in-spetember. Wearable technology is likely to be the next major form factor to take the industry by storm. What is odd is the fact that while everyone seems to know this, there are actually very few devices available to the public market. In terms of glasses, there are products like Google Glass and Recon Jet, but it seems like smartwatches will be a more practical solution for most people.

In this area, the only real contenders are the popular Pebble smartwatch and Sony’s smartwatch, which is slated for an update later this year. Now, Samsung is reportedly joining in on the fun with the Samsung Gear. A new report suggests that Samsung will hold a press conference where they will unveil the device alongside the highly anticipated Galaxy Note III in September. Releasing the device alongside the Galaxy Note III is actually a great idea and will likely boost the sales of both devices. The company could very easily sell the devices alongside each other. But it did actually have LTE. In Android 4.2, and 4.2.1 LTE connectivity could be established very easily. But in Android 4.2.2, Google made it quite a bit harder for us to get too. Android is a hacking community, so of course we’ve got it working again.

Today, we’ll take you through how exactly to do that. Since I’ve been asked quite a bit in the past 24-48 hours about enabling it on my Nexus 4 (since T-Mobile now has LTE in my area). Download and Flash CyanogenMod 10.1 or AOKP (you’ll need this to enable LTE)Once you’ve flashed your ROM and the Gapps, etc., you need to download an older radio for the Nexus 4.

You’ll tap on that and change it to LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)Now you can exit the menu altogetherYou now have LTE on your Nexus 4. You’ll want to be aware that the whenever you flash a new version of CyanogenMod, even if its over the old version without wiping data, you’ll need to repeat steps 5-9 again.
