how to turn your corks into candles

We’ve been drafting up our summer bucket list, looking at all the amazing places to swim around Reno like here, and here, as well as starting fires out back! I have a few festive Fourth of July projects coming up, but first this simple little trick will take you happily through the many summer evenings ahead – and it only has two steps. Finish your wine and collect corks. What Not To Toss Weekend: Busted Calculators & Remotes. How many of you have wound up with one of those freakishly large calculators or remotes from the dollar store?

What Not To Toss Weekend: Busted Calculators & Remotes

Kid #2 proudly came home with the calculator version and it lasted all of a day before it cracked in half on the first drop. Time to toss that bad boy, huh? Wait! Don’t toss that! The outer shell may be toast, but the buttons can live on. A few left-over peel-n-stick magnet strips and scissors later … … we wound up with some fun, practically free frig magnets. And man have the kids had fun doing math problems on the frig this week. Garden art on the cheap DIY: Glass marbles in your fence

I had the pleasure of speaking at the Lake Owasso Garden Club this week. It was a full classroom of avid, fun-loving gardeners and the topic at hand was Art in the Garden. As I told the group, I think art and the garden go together like peas and carrots and as I prepped my talk, I was reminded of one of my favorite DIY project from my own garden, the Garden Drama test garden. Festooning a six foot privacy with marbles is addictive fun that really adds a pop and punch to the garden setting, especially when the sun hits it from the back. The process is pretty simple. I would recommend using new marbles. Then go to town. I lose a marble or two over the winter from the wood contracting and expanding and maybe a couple over the summer, but a little vigilance, popping them back in is all that’s needed. Beware though, once you get going on this one, you will want to be be-dazzling your entire fence.

The kind that is waaaaayyyy too deep and has all kinds of unusable space. I was fed up with our tall pantry cabinet.
