Contents - The First Year. Setting Up Your Classroom. Classroom setup can dramatically affect students' attitudes toward and habits of learning. Students need an environment that is organized, stimulating, and comfortable in order to learn effectively. Creating such an environment entails arranging a practical physical layout, supplying diverse materials and supplies, and encouraging students to have a sense of belonging and ownership. Tips for Getting Started Ask students where they think the different learning centers should go.

Setting up my first classroom! | NQT Bloggers. Setting up your first classroom is something that they do not teach on the PGCE. It is thus something that is a little overwhelming to be faced with! Particularly because they don’t even warn you that it will take a good amount of time just to sort out what is useful and what is pointless from what the last teacher had left behind (took me two days to sort out my cupboard!)
In the end though, I’m quite proud of how my classroom has turned out, and even more so since my Head Teacher collared me today to tell me it was the best classroom in the school at the moment! Just as well as I can’t go in now until the kids come in on Monday (eek) If there is anything I could share with future NQT’s it would be to plan out how you want your classroom before you go into school. Seating The school I am working at has children sorted into four houses for a collecting points and sports day etc.
