RAND Publishes D2D’s Financial Entertainment Working Paper | D2D Fund. The RAND Corporation recently published D2D's working paper that spells out our current thinking about how casual financial literacy video games can lead to improvements in financial capability. The paper, Can Games Build Financial Capability? , provides a systematic review of all the data gathered on the Financial Entertainment innovation to-date and its ability to affect the economic lives of LMI Americans. The projects reviewed in the paper demonstrate the potential of Financial Entertainment to engage consumers, improve their financial self-efficacy, and drive them towards positive actions. The results are promising, but also raise many questions, especially around creating sustained behavior change and generating positive economic outcomes for LMI Americans.

D2D will continue to refine its games, deepening our understanding of what gameplay features improve financial confidence and knowledge. Design Seeds® | for all who ❤ color. I've seen on various web pages and sites requests for information about getting a Wacom Inkling sketch from the pen to a screen animation. So I want to share the steps I took to produce the type of thing shown on my website at If there are better ways to do this, please share.

For my workflow you will need Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Flash (until Wacom introduce direct Flash export). This is for a single-layer sketch, but with a little adaptation will work on multiple layers. You'll need familiarity with both Illustrator and Flash to follow this workflow. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. I hope this helps until Wacom introduce automated Flash/movie export for their software. Ian. The Ministry of Type. The Wacom Inkling. TL:DR (ahem) It’s a fantastic thing which has the potential to be very useful. You are drawing with a biro though so adjust your expectations accordingly. The software is awful, but not so bad as to make the device useless. Just make sure you export as SVG. Far TL:DR If you sketch a lot and need a digital copy of your sketches, get one. I’m glad I did. Update: I discovered that Wacom believe the Sketch Manager software is so vital to your everyday computing needs that they’ve set it to launch on startup.

Update 2: I bought mine from Wacom directly. Wacom have (finally) started sending out orders of their new product, the Inkling. The whole idea of the device is to record what you draw so that you can import it into image editing programs later, either as a bitmap or (more excitingly) as a vector image. As a gadget, it’s a lovely little thing. Using it Getting started with it is straightforward. Does it actually work? Scans of various sketches, compared to how they come across as SVG.
