LinkedIn Skills is Back! Back in October 2015, the eagle-eyed Irina Shamaeva noticed that (after killing the popular and extremely useful LinkedIn Skills product back in 2013), LinkedIn had introduced a new skills section to it’s lesser known Topics pages.

While LinkedIn’s Topics pages had only previously been designed to provide curious users with information on universities, companies, and certain industries, in late 2015 the professional network started to use the platform to build out a new and improved version of the former LinkedIn Skills & Expertise pages. The new addition to “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” will show what actions a user took that led to a profile view, such as updating a profile or joining a group. From the announcement: Which action led to an increase in views by the type of people you want to get in front of? Layering who is looking at your profile over the actions you have taken lets you focus on the actions that are most relevant to your professional goals, maximizing the engagement your profile receives. In turn, this increased engagement can lead to more opportunities for you. The company has also added the “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” feature to its mobile app, “since your professional brand needs to be maintained in this always-on world.” LinkedIn Showcase Pages. As you may of heard, on April 14th LinkedIn’s products and services feature will be going away on Company Pages.

Instead, they’re encouraging you to create Showcase Pages, which they started rolling out a few months ago. Showcase Pages are great for big companies, but not so much for the little guy. In fact, I found it a bit disappointing that LinkedIn doesn’t have a solution for the small business owner. Showcase Pages are great for big brands that have multiple business units or distinct product offerings where they have segmented audiences who would only have an interest in hearing news about one type of product offering. For example, Microsoft has Showcase Pages set up for SharePoint and for Small Business Owners. Showcase Pages are similar to Company Pages in that you need to build a following from scratch. The concept of Showcase Pages is a good idea, but the execution of this feature enhancement seems to not have been fully thought through.

Plusieurs chasseurs m'ont indiqué qu'ils allaient rechercher des profils dans les groupes, notamment quand ils ont du mal à recruter et/ou qu'ils veulent des candidats "passifs" c'est à dire qui ne sont pas ouvertement en recherche.

LinkedIn autorise une présence dans un maximum de 50 groupes. Ne pensez pas que métier mais aussi secteur.
