This lesson is Johnny Cash's “Cocaine Blues,” specifically Cash’s legendary performance at Folsom Prison. The song was originally written by TJ “Red” Arnall, and is a reworking of the traditional song, “Little Sadie”. The lyrics weave the tale of a man named Wille Lee, who while strung out on cocaine and whiskey, shot his woman to death. As punishment for his crime he received 99 years in the San Quentin Pen.
