Lost: A Sense of Proportion - White Collar strikes again! ( Unpredictable, Part 1)

Neal refused to follow the script, and I was forced to take drastic measures to reassert my Author-ly Authority. *g* Anyhow - response to another of kriadydragon's prompts here at collarcorner. Unpredictable. WC: The Rules. Target Practice. Target Practice Neal stumbled into his room at June's, his fedora slightly more askew than usual.

Target Practice

He was dressed as usual to the nines, his suit one of those vintage ones that he borrowed from June. He closed the door with a less than elegant kick of his Italian leather loafer and weaved across the room to his bed. He slipped off both shoes with a clumsy kick of his feet, nearly falling on his butt but just catching himself with a quick spin and turn, tumbling back onto his bed. He lay there a moment, staring glassily up at the ceiling before he pushed himself up to a sitting position and began to pull off his jacket, shirt and then his pants, tossing them at the end of the bed in a messy pile.

Neal... He turned in his sleep, pulling the blanket over his head and ducking underneath as much as he could. Neal... wake up! He continued to curl up tighter, hiding under the blanket till someone pulled it aside and the dim light of the morning started to penetrate his closed eye lids. Hope after the storm. Continues the story I wrote back in August, Hello, My Heart. Neal had taken a bullet in the chest during an undercover operation, and Peter’s by his side during his recovery (sound familiar?). It’s been three weeks since Stephen Corrig pointed that little mouse gun at him and fired. Three weeks of all the indignities that a modern hospital can inflict on a human being (the first and foremost being those hospital gowns that reveal everything to everybody).

Because it is schmoop, I decided on a Peter/Elizabeth/Neal established relationship for maximum fluff. Because it is schmoop, this is also set in the future, in the first year where Neal is out of the anklet and has chosen willingly to be with the FBI, but is also in a newish relationship with Peter and Elizabeth. (Read: newish relationship issues, but no consent issues or Kate issues—for the most part, Neal has accepted her death and the music box mystery has been dealt with.
