The Earth circles around the solar system at an angle 7 degrees off the solar equatorTheory suggests that gravity from errant star travelling near to our solar system pulled the planets out of whack By Damien Gayle Published: 14:42 GMT, 16 November 2012 | Updated: 16:28 GMT, 16 November 2012 It has been a long standing puzzle to astronomers: why is the Earth's orbit tipped 7 degrees relative to the sun's equator? Now a new theory suggests that violent stage of our solar system's history, an errant young star strayed close and pulled our developing planets out of whack with the sun's equator.

Konstantin Batygin of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, suggests that our star had a near stellar neighbour at the time Earth formed. Our solar system: All the planets in our system orbit at angles to the sun's equator. It is the gravitational of this nearby star on our developing system that explains why the planets don't orbit neatly around the sun's equator. Magellanic penguins always return to same mate after solo journeys totalling 200,000 miles. As the UK divorce rate continues to soar, a new study has today shown how marital harmony is thriving in the penguin world. Research has revealed a pair of Magellanic penguins as among the most faithful in the animal kingdom. The couple have remained loyal to each other over a 16-year period, in spite of spending thousands of miles apart during their winter trips. Scroll down for video Faithful: New research shows how a pair of Magellanic penguins were loyal to each other for 16 years (file picture) The findings come after a 30-year study of the breed where researchers placed metal identity bands on the flippers of 50,000 birds on the southern coast of Argentina. Previously penguin relationships were believed to span a maximum of just 10 years, with many cut short by the unexpected death of birds during migration. 'Divorce' is also a possibility as couples who fail to hatch chicks will split up and find new mates.

Jealous: Like the Magellanic penguin, black vultures are strictly monogamous. Natural beauty on display as stunning photos show the elegance of the animal kingdom. So that's why he was a genius! Einstein's intelligence was due to unusual features in his brain. By Daily Mail Reporter Published: 16:34 GMT, 17 November 2012 | Updated: 16:34 GMT, 17 November 2012 A new study suggests that Albert Einstein's extraordinary genius may have been related to a uniquely shaped brain. Researchers compared Einstein's brain to 85 'normal' human brains to determine, what, if any, unusual features it possessed. 'Although the overall size and asymmetrical shape of Einstein's brain were normal, the prefrontal, somatosensory, primary motor, parietal, temporal and occipital cortices were extraordinary,' said Dean Falk, the Hale G. Smith Professor of Anthropology at Florida State, told Science Daily. Genius: Researchers now believe the unique shape of Einstein's brain may have helped boost his cognitive abilities 'These may have provided the neurological underpinnings for some of his visuospatial and mathematical abilities, for instance.' Pioneer: Dean Falk and her colleagues were able to present for the first time a clear description of Einstein's cortex.
