All modern toolbars and user interface objects use ToolTips to give the user instant feedback about what an object does or what it contains. Strangely enough, this mechanism is used only sparingly by Windows Explorer. Users see ToolTips only for file types recognized by Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
