Springpad vs Evernote: Why It Might Be Better | 40Tech

A few weeks back, while researching for my comparison review of Shelfster and Evernote , I stumbled upon another alternative to collect information and organize your life: Springpad . I had the pleasure of speaking with the CEO and co-founder of Springpad, Jeff Janer (formerly of Third Screen Media and Britemoon) — and I have to say, Evernote user or not, Springpad may have a place in your life. To test this theory against my normal giddy excitement for new tech, I got my wife to try it – and, let me tell you, if my wife can find a new piece of tech both useful and exciting, then it may just be one of the best bits software to appear in a long, long time. “The beauty of Springpad is that it functions less like a junk drawer where important items can get lost, but more like a personal assistant that keeps you organized and productive.
I might be old fashioned about this, but I wanted to have the ability to have my notes on my local hard drive on my laptop, as well as saved on my phone and (optionally) in the cloud. That way, for example, if I'm on a trip, working on my laptop without internet, I can still look something up or make a note. The solution I found that does that is a combination of Simplenotes as the cloud server with Jade Notes as the Android app and Resophnotes as the pc app. Resophnotes is great--quick and easy to use, supports tags, etc. Jade Notes is OK but note ideal for me. My biggest complaint is that I can't select a tag (category) from a menu---rather I need to type in the tag for each new note. http://androidforums.com/android-applications/191207-springpad-evernote.html#post1689268

Springpad or Evernote? - Android Forums

http://johnny.chadda.se/article/simplenote-vs-evernote/ I have been an Evernote user for the last couple of years, and for a long time it has been the only viable option for note syncing between the Mac, iPhone and the web (and recently the iPad). Supporting multiple notebooks and a hierarchical tagging structure, as well as RTF note editing capabilities and GPS location has made it into a very appealing catch-all application. What brought Evernote over the top however, is the automatic OCR scanning of uploaded images. This basically means that you can find an image by searching for text contained within. I used this feature on a daily basis when snapping pictures of whiteboards during meetings with the iPhone application.

Shelfster vs Evernote | Online, Offline Note Taking, Note Sharing | 40Tech

http://www.40tech.com/2010/03/31/shelfster-vs-evernote-online-note-taking-note-sharing/ We are obvious Evernote fans here at 40Tech – but that doesn’t mean we aren’t open to other options! Recently we were contacted by the good folks at Shelfster , and asked if we might be interested in doing a review on their “ application which allows you to easily organise and share with others your favorite information from the web, offline documents or real world ”. They even provided us with 10 invitations to their private beta for our readers! We took their app for a spin, and found that Shelfster is pretty cool, overall. Have a read through and let us know what you think in the comments. Shelfster is a free tool that attempts to bridge the gap between note taking/web clipping and annotation/social sharing.

Catch – an unlikely competitor to Evernote « Lessons to be learned

Update: I wrote a new post about Catch recently. For some Google-knows-why reason a lot of people stumble upon this old post, instead of the new one. Meet Catch – “the easiest way to capture what matters to you” as they boast on their web-site.
So, I just got the new HTC Evo and it does not come with a notepad app. This is such basic functionality that I immediately broke out into tears. After the uncontrollable sobs subsided and I dried my tears I figured I'd do something about it. http://scottreed.posterous.com/android-app-smackdown-catch-vs-evernote

MobileNoter - Take notes on iPhone, iPad or Android and sync them with MS OneNote

MobileNoter is a note-taking application for iPhone , iPad or Android platform that is able to sync with Microsoft OneNote notebooks. Do you use OneNote on daily basis on your laptop or PC and dream to have a possibility to sync it with your iPhone, iPad or Android device?
http://www.newtechorder.com/2010/02/mobilenoter-vs-evernote/ If you are in the habit of taking notes from whatever mobile device you are carrying (i.e. WinMo, iPhone/Touch…. I would also say Android these days but can’t really cover it with any great authority, however I would assume given the growth of the app store for the platform that the same could be said) and want to sync them back to your PC (sorry Apple people, this is unashamedly a Windows orientated site), Evernote was really the only option. However no more!
