Springpad vs Evernote: Why It Might Be Better | 40Tech
A few weeks back, while researching for my comparison review of Shelfster and Evernote , I stumbled upon another alternative to collect information and organize your life: Springpad . I had the pleasure of speaking with the CEO and co-founder of Springpad, Jeff Janer (formerly of Third Screen Media and Britemoon) — and I have to say, Evernote user or not, Springpad may have a place in your life. To test this theory against my normal giddy excitement for new tech, I got my wife to try it – and, let me tell you, if my wife can find a new piece of tech both useful and exciting, then it may just be one of the best bits software to appear in a long, long time. “The beauty of Springpad is that it functions less like a junk drawer where important items can get lost, but more like a personal assistant that keeps you organized and productive.I might be old fashioned about this, but I wanted to have the ability to have my notes on my local hard drive on my laptop, as well as saved on my phone and (optionally) in the cloud. That way, for example, if I'm on a trip, working on my laptop without internet, I can still look something up or make a note. The solution I found that does that is a combination of Simplenotes as the cloud server with Jade Notes as the Android app and Resophnotes as the pc app. Resophnotes is great--quick and easy to use, supports tags, etc. Jade Notes is OK but note ideal for me. My biggest complaint is that I can't select a tag (category) from a menu---rather I need to type in the tag for each new note.

Catch – an unlikely competitor to Evernote « Lessons to be learned
Update: I wrote a new post about Catch recently. For some Google-knows-why reason a lot of people stumble upon this old post, instead of the new one. Meet Catch – “the easiest way to capture what matters to you” as they boast on their web-site.So, I just got the new HTC Evo and it does not come with a notepad app. This is such basic functionality that I immediately broke out into tears. After the uncontrollable sobs subsided and I dried my tears I figured I'd do something about it.
