There are many events in my social (and work) calender each year, but there are few I enjoy more than the Henley Royal Regatta.
As a day out it’s simply fantastic, with so much to see and do. However, it’s important to make sure you dress for the occasion if you are planning on attending. There are some good striped cotton blazers around this season which look perfect with grey flannels and a white shirt. If you feel confident enough, you could even try a bow tie. To take the dressed up look off a little, why not wear the whole ensemble with retro style plimsolls? Of course, you could also wear a classic navy double breasted blazer, striped tie and white cotton trousers; a panama hat is mandatory. Hackett offers a range of jackets and bow ties to help you effortlessly get the Regatta look you desire. HomeMint - Justin Timberlake's Exclusive Home Collection with Interior Designer Estee Stanley. Posted on | January 3, 2013 | 31 Comments The last weekend of 2012 we did our first overnight trip with Frances to Vermont.
We were invited to stay at a beautiful farmhouse my sister rented in Waterbury, Vermont. The trip was just over 3 hours from Massachusetts and a safe distance to practice our new parenting skills. As we drove north through New Hampshire the landscape turned from muddy browns to white blankets of snow. Frances slept majority of the way (see a pic here); making just one pit stop where we successfully maneuvered our first diaper changing in the car. On Saturday, we bundled baby up in full winter gear and brought her out for her first winter snowstorm. My sister found the house on Homeaway.com (for rental info): an online database of vacation rentals. Follow me on all my adventures: instagram.com/katyelliott. I find the days between Christmas and New Year quite strange… curiously lethargic… not helped, perhaps, by another huge storm blowing across London today. I’m back up here now, and pretending not entirely successfully to get on with a mountain of work that needs to be done before I’m away on my (proper) holiday and a serious dose of sunshine and change of scene in… oh, less than ten days’ time, which is something to hold on to at this time of year. New Year can be a melancholy time, can’t it? That forced good humour, when in fact all we really want to do is go to bed at about 9pm and watch a film or read a book and turn the lights off before 10; (I’m normally an early bird, but I have to confess I do not like getting up when it’s pitch dark outside). One of the things I was reflecting on this Christmas, which has been a normal lament for longer than I can remember, is the fact that yet again I didn’t get around to Christmas cards this year.
