This has been a glorious week for solar observers! Led by large sunspot region AR1339, the sun's disk is alive with activity... the most dynamic show in many years. I made two interpretations - which do you prefer? A close-up view of 1339 can be seen here .
You have stolen my silence, 2006, © Gehard Demetz wood, 167,5x55x38 cm Courtesy Galleria Rubin, Milano Photo by Egon Dejori G ehard Demetz is a mystery artist, the only thing that we know about him is that he was born in 1972, Italy, and that he currently lives in the mountains of Selva Gardena. Maybe this is the only thing that matters when you set an eye on his absolutely marvelous wooden sculptures, since you forget everything you may have in your mind. Why lie, this is not wood, this is the material of the dreams. And dreams are the perfect place for dark surrealism to rise.
The Pierre is one of the most beautiful houses I’ve seen in a long time and its view over the San Juan Archipelago is incredible! The house celebrates the materiality of the site and that combined with a green roof makes the house blend with the surrounding, making it almost invisible from certain angles. I’m having a hard time finding anything wrong with the exterior or the interior for that matter. The interiors combination of older looking, inviting furniture stands in wonderful contrast with the raw concrete walls.
Go Discovery! It was October 23, 2007 at 11:40am EST when I had my first ride to space on Discovery. She’s beautiful… just sad that this will be her last voyage. Looking forward to climbing aboard the flight deck when Discovery arrives at the Space Station in November. (9-23-2010). Incredible Photos from Space: Larry Tanner, NASA.
