I have ridden the entire trail and then some. I also took my time to explore. What’s the trail like: From it’s start in Tellico Plains, Tennessee to Salida, Colorado for the most part the trail is not technical and can be ridden by riders with mediocre skills and on most motorcycles. Building up a DRZ400 adventure bike called for a screen and dash that could comfortably house a GPS and additional gauges.
I had a particular layout in mind but searching the internet for adventure bike screens didn't really turn up the ideal solution so, the decision was made to custom build my own screen and dash. One of the major factors that determined the type of material the screen would be made of was crashability and ease of replacement in the case of a big off. The final material selection was a windscreen made from fibreglass with a Perspex insert. One good feature about these two materials is that once the moulds are created you are looking at less than $100 in materials to rebuild both the screen and dash.
