The Namib Desert Indoors (12 photos)

Inspired by an article he read about abandoned diamond mines in Namibia, photographer Álvaro Sánchez-Montañés wanted to learn more. In his magazine he had only stumbled across one picture of Kolmanskop, a now ghost town in southern Namibia that had once been a rich mining village. Online he found a treasure trove of interesting photos and at that moment promised himself that he would one day experience the Namib desert for himself. He would see with his very own eyes how the desert sands' had reclaimed its space. When he got there, he found "the beauty in the abandoned, of the useless, of the time passing by." Left at the mercy of the Namib desert, the winds had filled the rooms of the deserted buildings with sand.

Do not attack my grammar as opposed to my comment because as a former debater that will just piss me off and make you look stupid. Firstly, I’d like to say that some of the people are right, youth now seem not to give two shits about education and yes the education system in the US have drastically dropped in efficiency.

http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/optimistic-illustrations In a world filled with cynical people, it's comforting to know that there's someone like Heng Swee Lim. The Kuala Lampur, Malaysia-based illustrator creates bright and sunny works that will turn anyone's day around. Filled with optimism and hope, they have that child-like innocence to them that's wonderfully refreshing. When we asked Lim why he illustrates this way, he told us this. "We live in a world full of depression. I hope my drawings can make you feel easy, free, happy and hopeful.

If you're wondering how "close" two places are, a geographic map doesn't help much anymore. If the airports are good--or if there's a bullet train nearby--hundreds of miles might as well be down the street. Point being, "distance" is now really a function less of geography, than of the transport networks we've invented. http://www.fastcompany.com/1419125/infographic-day-its-small-world-afterall
