Crocodile Stitch Owl – With PATTERN! | That's Knotty! Let me start off by saying, I LOVE owls! I also love how they have become so popular in the crochet world! A few weeks ago, I was browsing Pinterest for an awesome crochet owl pattern to use as a wall hanging on our empty living room walls. I was sad to realize that most of the patterns I could find were either stuffed animals or tiny appliques :[ So, I sat down with my hook and some yarn, and came up with something knotty of my own! I ended up making three owls, one to represent each of my family members. I got on Facebook and posted a picture in a few crochet groups, and several people asked for a pattern. Please enjoy! First things first, the winner of a copy of The Vegan Girl’s Guide to Life is… Commenter #71, Heather!

Congratulations, Heather; you’ll be hearing from me shortly so that you can collect your prize. Bakers can be the hardest people to find gifts for. Cookbooks may be taken as an insult, bake ware may end up as unnecessary clutter, and homemade edibles seem like they could never live up to their high standards. However, if you’re of a more crafty temperament, then it’s easy to sidestep this problem. Homemade gifts are easily the best sort, so instead of channeling that creativity into an over-sized, itchy sweater, try whipping up a set of potholders that are shaped like cupcakes!

Even if the recipient isn’t big on baking, perhaps these enticing kitchen accessories might inspire them to get in there and start making good use of their oven. Cupcake Potholders Cake (Make 4): Frosting: Row 1: With frosting color and RS facing, attach yarn with a sc to the widest edge – right corner. In honor of Independence Day, July 4th, I have designed this sweet little dish cloth, which can also be used as a wash cloth if you prefer. It is quick and easy to make, and looks very patriotic in red, white and blue. But I think it makes a very cute little wash cloth made in other colors, too. It uses rows of alternating single crochet and double crochet stitches to get the textured look. To make it heart shaped you just increase and decrease stitches at the appropriate rows. I used Lily’s 100% Cotton Sugar’n Cream Yarn in Pink, Red, and White for the main colors and Azalea Ombre for the border and the matching ring holder. The holder is made by crocheting SC stitches in a plastic shower ring I got from Walmart. The shower rings come in a set of 12 rings and sells for about $1. You will need to make 2 hearts in the main color, the hearts are held together by the boarder.

I used a J hook to make these Valentine Heart Hot pads, but really you can use any size hook you want as guage really isn’t an issue. Clicking on links will take you to our Amazon affiliate.
