The SaaS Development Lifecycle. Overview Cloud service development requires a different approach than the traditional software development lifecycle as the cloud provider becomes a critical success factor of the overall project. In a traditional software development setting, more emphasis is put on the functional aspects because it is deployed on an on-premise infrastructure with implicit security, compliance, control, operational transparency and perceived service level requirements. Another important factor is the cost of operations. It often takes back seat, especially in cost centers, due to the sunk cost and horizontal charge models. The main objective of this paper is to focus on the lifecycle aspects of SaaS service development and outline the motivation, inputs and deliverables of each activity for all the phases of the lifecycle. Cloud services can be built for internal consumption as well as for selling to external customers.

Cloud Service Tenets SaaS Development Lifecycle (SaaSDLC) Envisioning Motivation Actors. Sociation Today. People who reported that their household did not have a home computer were asked if they were planning to buy a home computer within the next year. They were also asked a series of questions to identify the reason they did not have a home computer. The results are presented in the following graph. Note that the reasons for not having a home computer given by folks who were planning to buy a computer in the next year are presented on the left side of the graph while those given by the folks who were not planning to buy a home computer are on the right side.

For the folks planning to buy a computer, their primary reason for not having a home computer is that they can use one somewhere else (the light green bar on the graph). For people who are not planning to buy a computer, the four reasons (Don’t want one; don’t know how to use a computer; not very useful and too expensive) suggest these people don’t know how to use a computer and that a computer is too expensive. McKinsey & Company « The Intelligent Challenge. There’s no escaping the “o” word in the legal profession at the moment, and for the past 18 months, the stories in the UK legal press have just kept on coming. Lots of words, but what’s really happening? What’s going to happen? A suitably shocking image was required for a discussion of the "O" word... Does outsourcing spell armageddon for the legal profession? Will all the jobs be swept up and done offshore? Will process and technology decimate the practice of law? Or will the hype die down and the business model be exposed as simply not working for the legal profession?

I’ve been connected with the outsourcing industry for about twelve years. So buckle up, here we go…. Let’s start with the observation that the fundamental principle of contracting with a third party to provide services that are non-core to your business is pretty well established. To investigate this, a bit of clarity is required about what actually constitutes legal process outsourcing (or LPO). So what’s the truth? Incoming International Students. After a beta period lasting a couple of months, the doors are open on the new Facebook Ad Exchange (FBX), which makes the social networking giant’s inventory available to real-time bidding (RTB) and retargeting. Facebook is working with the exchanges of a generous number of partners, including AdRoll, AppNexus, Brandscreen, Criteo, DataXu, MediaMath, Nanigans, Kenshoo, Optimal, RocketFuel, Tellapart, TheTradeDesk, Triggit, Turn, Xaxis, and X+1.

The company says that through these partners, advertisers can access capabilities like multi-touch attribution, view-through conversions, global frequency capping, day-parting, and creative optimization. The most obvious application, though, is retargeting. Given that Facebook controls 25% of the display ad inventory on the internet, according to comScore, the availability of FBX is expected to have a significant impact not just on Facebook, but on the overall advertising ecosystem. How Big Is Facebook’s Data? 2.5 Billion Pieces Of Content And 500+ Terabytes Ingested Every Day. Facebook revealed some big, big stats on big data to a few reporters at its HQ today, including that its system processes 2.5 billion pieces of content and 500+ terabytes of data each day. It’s pulling in 2.7 billion Like actions and 300 million photos per day, and it scans roughly 105 terabytes of data each half hour. Plus it gave the first details on its new “Project Prism”. VP of Engineering Jay Parikh explained why this is so important to Facebook: “Big data really is about having insights and making an impact on your business. If you aren’t taking advantage of the data you’re collecting, then you just have a pile of data, you don’t have big data.”

By processing data within minutes, Facebook can rollout out new products, understand user reactions, and modify designs in near real-time. Another stat Facebook revealed was that over 100 petebytes of data are stored in a single Hadoop disk cluster, and Parikh noted “We think we operate the single largest Hadoop system in the world.” Mobile GPS for Indoor Use: Just Around the Corner? | News | Canadian Heritage Information Network.

Type 2 - The Helper. Exploring the Enneagram through Art (continued) The Signature of this personality is their genuine generosity and helpfulness. The unconscious childhood message they received however, was that it isn’t good to have your own needs. They therefore have insecurities about others’ affections for them and reach out to others in an attempt to be needed and loved. This may lead to Twos losing touch with their own needs and hurts. They connect with their own Life essence when they learn to nurture themselves and look after their own needs. The sculpture depicts a worse for wear Helper with huge hands on his very dilapidated “ivory tower” (being held together by iron bands) reaching out to help others while being unaware that his own rescue lies in the knowledge that love need not be earned.
