The new syllabus has an increased emphasis on historical skills and concepts, and the use of primary and secondary resources. These are also relevant when using the current HSIE syllabus. To assist in bringing this focus to the current syllabus a range of resources are available. A selection of visual texts is located on the Board’s website. Also, the State Library of NSW has an excellent collection of resources, which will be invaluable in bringing History alive in the primary classroom. Using the current HSIE syllabus, teachers can source primary and secondary materials on topics such as the discovery of gold.
