As an international student, you are not entitled to any financial assistance from the UK government and you must have sufficient funds to cover all of your expenses before you travel to the UK in addition to budgeting for possible differences in exchange rates. How much will it cost? You will need to have funds to cover your tuition and accommodation fees and your living expenses of approximately £800 per month (as advised by the UK Border Agency). How much money should I bring with me? There is no limit to the amount of money that you can bring into the UK. You can bring your own currency, travellers' cheques or pounds sterling, but for your own safety we would advise you to bring money in the form of travellers' cheques rather than large amounts of cash. If it is possible, please open a bank account with a multi-national bank in your home country before you travel to the UK.
