Dinner Rolls for a Crowd These are super easy to bake up and so much better than store-bought. One recipe makes 3 dozen, so there are plenty. However, these are not giant sandwich rolls, but are the perfect size for dinner or a salad course. If you are having 12 people or less this will feed everyone, they are little bites of heaven. There are so many dinner roll recipes out there, however, these can easily sop up the leftover gravy or salad dressing on a plate without interfering with flavor. http://noblepig.com/2009/12/dinner-rolls-for-a-crowd/

http://www.research.psu.edu/news/2010/scientists-discover-dying-corals-creatures-near-gulf-oil-spill-site On a research ship in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, Nov. 2, seven miles southwest of the site of the Deep Water Horizon oil spill, a team of scientists discovered a community of corals that includes many recently dead colonies and others that clearly are dying. "We discovered a community of coral that has been impacted fairly recently by something very toxic," said the chief scientist on the cruise, Charles Fisher, who is a professor of biology at Penn State and a member of the research team that selected the site for study. Fisher said the research team encountered a colony of the hard coral species Madrepora that appeared to be unhealthy on Nov. 2, at a depth of 1,400 meters. The timing could not be worse for the bluefin tuna. The majestic, deepwater giant — threatened by overfishing — had just lost a bid for protection as an endangered species when oil started gushing into its spawning grounds in the Gulf of Mexico. Now, a part of the emergency response to the oil — the large-scale use of dispersants — could further imperil the species by sinking the oil beneath the Gulf’s surface and into the zone where its eggs and larvae are floating, marine biologists say. The chemical dispersants — a standard tool in the oil cleanup business — are being used by the Deepwater Horizon response team to break up the oil offshore in hopes of preventing thick crude from wrecking delicate marshlands, mangroves and pristine beaches. Scientists Detect Oil on Gulf Floor - University of South Florida By Vickie Chachere USF.edu News Manager ST. PETERSBURG (Aug. 17, 2010) – University of South Florida marine scientists conducting experiments in an area of the Gulf of Mexico where clouds of oil from the BP spill were found now have discovered what appears to be oil in sediments of a vital underwater canyon and observed evidence that the oil has become toxic to critical marine organisms. http://news.usf.edu/article/templates/?a=2604&z=120

http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=11283 Although significant steps have been taken over the last 15 years to reduce the size and frequency of oil spills, the sheer volume of petroleum consumed in the United States and the complex production and distribution network required to meet the demand make spills of oil and other petroleum products inevitable. Approximately 3 million gallons of oil or refined petroleum products are spilled into U.S. waters every year. Oil Spill Dispersants: Efficacy and Effects

Chemicals Used in Deep Waters Should Be Studied for Use Closer to Coastline T he National Research Council issued a report in 1989 that recommended chemical dispersants be considered as a first response option to oil spills. When the worst oil spill in U.S. history occurred later that year, cleanup crews tried to use oil dispersants at the scene of the Exxon Valdez disaster.
