Billet publié par Stéphane Vincent dans la catégorie Tags: Design , Innovation , social Le 3 décembre était organisée une téléconférence à l’initiative du Social Innovation Exchange (SIX, dont nous vous avons déjà parlé), avec la participation de designers et d’innovateurs sociaux de Paris, Londres, Milan, Bruxelles, Copenhague, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Shangai, Tokyo.
Le thème dont nous devions débattre : quels sont les liens entre le design et l’innovation sociale ? Les designers sont-ils des innovateurs sociaux ? Peuvent-ils contribuer à enrichir l’innovation sociale ? Autant le dire tout de suite : au terme d’un tour de table passionnant* mais interminable, nous n’avons pas eu le temps de débattre du sujet ! En revanche, une note de travail avait été rédigée avant la conférence par Geoff Mulgan, directeur de la Young Foundation, qui anime SIX. Geoff Mulgan énumère ainsi les principales forces du design appliqué à l’innovation sociale, telles qu’il les perçoit : Policies for Digital Fabrication. The Insourcing Boom article by By Charles Fishman gives a great overview of the phenomena, telling the story of General Electric: In 1951, when General Electric designed the industrial park, the company’s ambition was as big as the place itself; GE didn’t build an appliance factory so much as an appliance city. The story is quite common and therefore understandable, and the article goes one explaining the dynamics of this trend: Policies for Digital Fabrication: UK. La participation, un levier. Le designer Massimo Menichinelli (@openp2pdesign) s’est intéressé aux Fab Labs parce qu’il s’intéressait aux processus de collaboration et à la conception ouverte (voir sa présentation).
Il s’est notamment intéressé à comprendre en quoi les modèles open source avaient une influence sur la conception. Il a aussi commis un intéressant travail d’analyse de la communauté des makers italiens pour saisir sa structure et son fonctionnement. Les Fab Labs, ces laboratoires de fabrication, proposent un accès démocratique aux outils de fabrication, estime celui qui a participé à la conception du Fab Lab du Musée des sciences de la ville de Trente (galerie photo). Ils permettent à plusieurs personnes de travailler ensemble, selon un processus de conception ouvert.
L’ouverture, l’open source, créé un écosystème qui permet de concevoir un service adaptatif, estime Massimo Menichinelli. Hubert Guillaud.
