Environmental Modeling with Stakeholders. This volume brings together, in a central text, chapters written by leading scholars working at the intersection of modeling, the natural and social sciences, and public participation. This book presents the current state of knowledge regarding the theory and practice of engaging stakeholders in environmental modeling for decision-making, and includes basic theoretical considerations, an overview of methods and tools available, and case study examples of these principles and methods in practice.

Although there has been a significant increase in research and development regarding participatory modeling, a unifying text that provides an overview of the different methodologies available to scholars and a systematic review of case study applications has been largely unavailable. The book is divided into two main sections. Cognitive, Material and Technological Considerations in Participatory Environmental Modeling. Integrating Social Sciences into Long-Term Ecological Research. The use of participatory modeling to promote social learning and facilitate community disaster planning. Fundación Tierra Viva. Los ríos en riesgo de Venezuela y la ruta para su conservación. – Desarrollo Sustentable. Felixstowe Citizen Science Group - Accueil.

What is Learning and Improving Andalusia Through Science? `Learning and Improving Andalusia Through Science´ is a project of Fundación Descubre for community initiatives aimed at improving the environment through science and innovation and co-funded by FECYT. This project consists of a research and innovation action to implement a methodology based on initiatives involving the whole community to seek the active participation of society to respond to a problem of the environment through science. The goals of `Learning and Improving Andalusia Through Science´ are to: Bring science to society through the community Raise awareness about the importance of science in improving the environment Show to the society the applicability of science in their daily lives Raise awareness about the practices that respect the environment Involve different sectors of the community in a collaborative scientific project, and directly related to their immediate environment How do I participate?

Contact. Zooniverse. River Data - Drinkable Rivers. Every day, local people and Li An measured: 1) chemical properties (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and oxygen saturation, turbidity); 2) conductivity (salts); 3) E-coli bacteria; 4) heavy metals. At times, we looked at what fauna lived here. With the support of several professional partners, hundreds of Meuse angels, and thousands of supporters and followers, and despite a zero-budget, the walk and research was realised. This is a first insight of the river data collected by local people. Step by step, we will continue to visualise the data. We will grow this local people-led research by this year’s results of the Meuse; of new entries from across Europe this Summer, and hopefully next year the first results collected by local people in China.
