Classroom Celebrations: Celebrate Birthdays! I know for many of us, birthday celebrations have changed drastically in the last 10 years. It use to be you could celebrate birthdays whenever, for how ever long, and bring whatever to eat. Of course, the rules have changed. Now, birthday celebrations have to be done at recess or during the last 10 minutes of school. That's it. And cupcakes are a no-no. How sad! Some ideas besides cupcakes: * bowl of any fruit--especially berries! * individual containers of yogurt * granola packs with a few M&Ms sprinkled inside * mini-muffins * banana bread or some sort of sweet bread * pretzels with chocolate slightly drizzled on top Any more? Celebrate during reading with these activities so you won't miss one second of learning... I created this: •6 Common Core Standard and TEKS (Texas) related literacy activity ---4 activities to go along with the picture book Camilla, the Cupcake Fairy (You are going to love this book if you don't already have it!!)
