I am so excited about our next project I just had to post it before its finished. Fourth and fifth will be making these skeleton animals as we learn about the culture of Dia De Los Mertos "Day of the Dead. " We will tie it into science by learning the names of major bones in the skeleton.

We will learn about why we have bones and what organs each bone protects. We have done lots of projects for Day of the dead and you can see them if you click the label on the side of my blog. We will combine the intricate designs of the sugar skull with animals, like these artworks created by various artists below! For this project, students bring a small plastic or wood animal from home. I painted them black with spray paint first You can pierce their ears with a tack first to add earrings later to decorate Let dry outside for several hours Use white acrylic paint for the bones, and give students photos of the skeleton of their animal to reference. It's my first "Friday Art Feature" of the year! :) I LOVE teaching art, and I LOVE displaying my students' artwork in the classroom - it adds such a personal touch.

This year I'm trying something new with our art display. I changed bulletin boards for our art, and I now have a HUGE bulletin board for our display. For our first finished art, I displayed all 28 pieces. For our first art projects of the year, I always like to do some sort of name art. We are just finishing up our second art projects of the year right now (about half of my students had them completed by the end of the week). They then had to shade between the lines (we used pencil crayons for the shading). That's about it for today! Jamestown Elementary Art Blog. After the video we played "Roll a Picasso" here is a version on Teachers Pay Teachers but I made my own to add a view more parts to it.

Day 2: I show them a little poster that I put together reminding them of some things about Picasso and showing some of his other works. Day 3: Showed the poster once again just to remind them of Picasso (seeing as we only see each other once every six school days)! I am so excited to share these with you, I just LOVE how these turned out! McDill Elementary... Kennedy Elementary... Jefferson Elementary... Arts visuels. Arts plastiques. Fine Lines: Jean Dubuffet. This week 4th graders started by viewing slides of some of Dubuffet's work and discussing his progress as an artist throughout his life. I read about another Dubuffet art project a ways back HERE where the teacher posted a cool site with music also written by Dubuffet.

We listened to a bit of that, too. The kids had some great comments as to how his music compared with his art!!! VERY interesting and insightful!! We then started to work creating a Dubuffet inspired paper sculpture. First, students got 1 piece of 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" piece of cardstock and three pieces cut 8 1/2" X about 2 7/8".

They cut slits where appropriate and assembled the 3 pieces to make a "base" that would balance. Once students figured out their construction, it was time to add lines or design motifs. Some classes were taking longer to complete the coloring process, so I had them assemble the white pieces so they would understand the process. I hope some of the kids try it at home!! Introducing the Great Artist to my kids is something that has been on my agenda for a long long long time. My kids are only 4yrs and 2yrs old, so of course there is still plenty of time. However, this hasn’t stopped me buying lots of wonderful art books for children (amongst our current favourites are Kate and the Mona Lisa and Anna’s Art Adventure), as well as going on trips to art galleries (our most memorable trip being to the very welcoming Tate Britain, but also a couple of visits with Granny to the Royal Academy).

Now I am keen to “up the ante”. We have had a look at “real” paintings before and then had a go at painting our own (specifically we did a “Klimt” painting, that Red Ted LOVES), but I have never really approached “The Great Artists” formally with my kids and I wasn’t sure how to write about it here for you. {If you LOVE arts & crafts and you want to keep up to date… I would LOVE YOU to subscribe to e-mail notifications and come and to join me on Facebook !} So. More and more websites are coming online to give students the ability to unleash their creativity in new and innovative ways. From abstract art to pointillism, students now can click and draw their way into original works of art, and today’s freebie gives you a great list of places to begin. The sites are labeled by grade level to help guide you to those that best suit your students. In addition, I’ve added ratings to give teachers and students an idea of how much interactivity is available at each site. Some allow students to create from beginning to end, while others simply generate the final product with minimal effort. What you will not find here are basic virtual coloring sheets.

I tried to find sites that would give students a chance to generate their own original works of art. I will warn you that some of these sites will drag you in to create for long periods of time. 3D Snowflake Creator (Grades 2-12) A basic kaleidoscope tool that generates an animated snowflake.

Carnevale. Portrait - Collage. I adapted this lesson from Deep Space Sparkle about one of my most favorite artists/architects Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

I have taught lessons on Hundertwasser's archtecture, but not on his paintings and prints before, so I was so excited to try this out! In 5th grade at Suffield, we talked about the representational and abstract qualities of Hundertwasser's artworks. The students kept this in mind as they worked to try to end up with both types of elements in their artworks as well. You can see the step-by-step process of these collages at Deep Space Sparkle. In my version, we added photos (I encouraged students to try to do a pose that nobody else has done), and then the students tried to really make their photo look like it belonged in the collage.

Thank you Deep Space Sparkle for great inspiration! 50 OFF TODAY 11x14 Landscape Art Modern par HeatherGallerArt. Musée virtuel - Reproduction de tableaux. Tableaux de Paul Cézanne.
