As the upcoming Smurfs movie, and a gazillion others before it, show in puny yet ample detail, there’s a je ne sais quoi inherent to dwarfish creatures swarming into gargantuan places.

We enjoy looking at tiny underdogs taking over the world as we know it – i.e. a territory we call home and think we rule over as kings. The cute factor of minis-in-jumbo-settings is now being exploited to artistic effect by Christopher Boffoli, in his Disparity series. More deets after the food-tastic jump! Indulging in a love for scale models that dates back to his childhood years and was instilled by his father, Boffoli now uses toy figurines to orchestrate a meticulous puppet-show where he plops real-life-looking people on top of foodstuff. Once upon a time, Six Flags was filled with children’s laughter – but now it’s sad, silent, and surreal. No lines for dead rides. Watch out for that tree! No one wants a ride?
