I must say, I was very happy for what I received. The violin itself is heavier than most violins, electric or otherwise, but this is only an observation and in no way caused any issues when playing. The bow and the strings are of poor quality, though for the price I expected this. The G string was also in a very bad state and has almost snapped - it looked as if it had been over tightened at some point. Once I upgraded the strings and used my other bow I was pleasantly surprised with how well it played. As I said, I'm a beginner and far from being an expert when it comes to violin quality but, for the price, I'd say that this is a pretty good starter electric violin. The violin is quite heavy - tho' not overly so. As stated, these are very early impressions and I may do another review when I've got to know it better. It runs off a 9 volt battery, but there is no on/off switch so I take the battery out each time.
No instructions were received with the violin. The shipped strings are all plain wire, which is normal for the E string, but the G D and A strings would more normally be spiral wound wire. I think these are very cheap strings, and intend to replace mine. The bridge I received with the violin seemed too narrow and thin for the pick-up which the bridge sits in on this model. The pegs turned very poorly until I added peg-paste. The violin does have a ridge for attaching a normal shoulder rest, which is good, and this extends around the bottom half of the chin-end portion of the S shape. The headphone socket is inconveniently located so that unless your headphones have and angular 3.5mm connector, the lead can get in the way of your shoulder rest.
