Four other gunmen then stormed inside and shot at the patrons, even following them into the bathrooms and wounding them there. Now R399.00 buy now Cape Town - In a bid to save water, the City of Cape Town has introduced the plumbing equivalent of a wiring certificate for the sale of homes. It said on Friday that the new rule, in the form of an amendment to an existing by-law, resulted from a suggestion by a member of the public. The amendment laid down that before transfer of a property, a home seller had to submit a certificate from an accredited plumber.
This would state that water installation at the dwelling conformed to the national building regulations and the by-law, that there were no defects in the plumbing, that the water meter registered, and storm water was not being discharged into the sewer system. The amendments were approved by council this week and would now be sent to the provincial government for promulgation. Malema-parties-it-up-in-cape-town-club-1. Days of speculation are at an end after Liqui-Fruit and its advertising agency, Liquorice stood up and claimed responsibility for the Cape Town iceberg spotted off Clifton Beach on Monday morning. Earlier today, the South African fruit juice company released an adaptation of the original video with digitally added pieces of fruit on the iceberg, and copy which read “The end of global cooling….the start of the Liqui-Fruit summer meltdown.”, and ending with a link promoting the Summer Meltdown on its Facebook page.
The campaign is the brainchild of Brian Carter, Creative Director at Liquorice, and sources reveal that the agency had been working on the campaign for months. Telling Capetonians that we live in the best city in Africa is like telling us that the Earth revolves around the sun; we already know it and we’re pretty cocky about it too. But telling us that Cape Town has been voted the Best City in Africa and the Middle East by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller – now that is something to celebrate! The Condé Nast Traveller Awards is the tourism industry’s equivalent of the Emmy Awards and if the Mother City could give an acceptance speech, it would go something like this: “Thank you, thank you!
I could not have done this without my fantastic residents, my awe-inspiring monuments and my spectacular views. This award really is a testament to how well we live, work and play together and I am proud to be your city, your Mother!” Not one to shy away from such prestigious accolades, the city is the second-time winner of the Readers’ Choice Award in this category, winning for the first time in 2008. Western Cape gang violence escalating. Western Cape gang violence escalating Gang violence is escalating in Hanover Park near Philippi in Cape Town, the Western Cape government said on Sunday. The MEC of community safety Albert Fritz would visit the Philippi police station and the Hanover Park community on Sunday afternoon. "The minister wants to hear from the public and see for himself what the situation is," his spokeswoman Melany Kuhn said. "People have been ringing him and texting him from the community all weekend saying 'help!
We need intervention the gang violence is out of control'. " Decreasing gang violence was a priority for the MEC, Kuhn said. He would be looking at the root cause of the problem and analysing the choices available to young people on the Cape Flats. "We need to show them [children] that there are other alternatives to joining a gang and we will give them that alternative," she said. Gang leaders gave children the wrong impression that joining a gang would provide them with a better lifestyle, she said. Cape Town crash kills 1, 6 hurt | Africa news 24/7. Cape Town focuses on plan for ‘backyarders’ With thousands of families living in backyards across the Cape Metropole, the City of Cape Town has identified Hanover Park, Langa and Factreton as pilot areas in which to initiate a plan of action to meet their basic needs.
According to a sample survey conducted by the City’s Housing Directorate, about 41 000 families live in the backyards of the City’s rental properties. Councillor Shehaam Sims, Mayoral Committee Member for Housing, says: “The survey found that the average backyard household consists of four members and that over 90% have a monthly household income of R3 000 and less. Backyarders also expressed their wish for access to own water, sanitation and electricity”. “It is clear that the scale of the backyarder phenomenon has been under-estimated.
Results have also shown that solutions must be tailored to the particular needs of each area and that these need to be phased-in gradually,” she says. The plan has been created over a number of months. The Average Teenager Sends 3,339 Texts Per Month [STATS] If you needed more proof that texting is on the rise, here's a stat for you: the average teenager sends more than 3,000 texts per month. That's more than six texts per waking hour. According to a new study from Nielsen, our society has gone mad with texting, data usage and app downloads. Nielsen analyzed the mobile data habits of more than 60,000 mobile subscribers and surveyed more than 3,000 teens during April, May and June of this year. The numbers they came up with are astounding. The number of texts being sent is on the rise, especially among teenagers age 13 to 17. According to Nielsen, the average teenager now sends 3,339 texts per month.
Other age groups don't even come close, either; the average 18- to 24-year-old sends "only" 1,630 texts per month. In 2008, the main reason anybody got a phone was for safety, even among teenagers. Texting is also supplanting voice calls — 22% say SMS is easier than a phone call and another 20% say it's faster. What do you think of these stats?
