Yes this is very frustrating and I have experienced this many times. I have run into multiple different clients that actually don’t care about their site, product, service, or reputation. It drives me crazy when a company asks me to do work for them and I say, “Well I’ve never seen your site or patronized your business, but I have already heard that people dislike you and you have ripped people off”. So I can do all the work in the world and get you the best possible exposure, but you have to start taking time to actually care about producing a good product and what people think about you and making them happy, otherwise it is just like you say Rand, “They are going to find you #1, but they already know your brand is a poor product so they aren’t going to click”.
