En 1952, alors qu’il photographiait la famille Ford ( celle des voitures ) pour le 50eme anniversaire de la marque il a eu l’idée de demander à Mme Ford de sauter devant l’appareil. Il s’aperçut que le fait de sauter obligeait ses sujets à ne plus se concentrer sur l’apparence qu’ils voulaient donner ce qui leur donnait une expression différente de leur image publique. Pendant les années qui ont suivies il a fini toutes ses séances de photographies en demandant au sujet de sauter, que ce soit Richard Nixon ou Marilyn Monroe. Bone and Braid: Stephanie Inagaki. Stephanie Inagaki combines bone and braid, spine and hair, body and negative space to interrogate the erotic consciousness.
She works in stark monochromes, using the blinding contrast of dark and light to place emphasis on her forms. Inagaki creates nightmarish imagery reminiscent of Japanese horror films and the ghost lore of Eastern memory. Inagaki's work represents the dark, writhing edges of erotic art.
