Save Llamas from Being Destroyed by Niamh Nic Aodha Bhuí. Backlit Canvas Art. Do you have one project that you've been longing to do, but just haven't found the time yet? This is it for me. I call it my Backlit Canvas Art and the inspiration piece has been pinned in my "Crafts to try" Pinterest board for ages. My "pin"speration is an artist's piece made from metal that has hand cut flowers all over it. Its backlit by Christmas lights, and I pretty much love it! So I decided to give it a go and create my version. There are two main differences between the two: 1. 2. The idea of the canvas is that during the day (ie. with the Christmas light off) you have a beautiful sculpture while at night (you guessed it, with the Christmas lights on!)
How about a tutorial? Supply list Mounted canvas (mine is 10"x10") cardstock to fit on your canvas (mine is 12"x12") stamps ink pad X-acto knife light source* *I wasn't sure if I wanted to use a single bulb or Christmas lights so that is why both are in the above picture. I decided to go with the same flower theme as my inspiration piece. 21 Pictures That Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity. Stone Telling: The Magazine of Boundary-crossing Poetry. By Shira Lipkin the girl's voice the changeling voice I have studied so hard to pass as one of you. I've spent a lifetime on it. I have tells. Blisters, tremors, bruises, all the signs that I was not meant for your world, was not meant to be contained in your clothes, your shoes. When I was little, I asked my alleged mother, what's a girl? She saidyou, you're a girl, and she laced me into dresses (that I tore off in the school parking lot, in line for the bus).
My dancing was different. And everything is about containment is about being delicate and pretty laced into corsets whalebone stays digging into your ribs because it's not beauty if it doesn't hurt. But I studied. None of it is in my nature. I am something larger, more fluid, less constrained. Shira Lipkin is a writer, activist, mother, and nexus. Photography:Untitled, by Graham Blackall. DIY Party Animal Candles. Hi there, it’s Jenny from Hank + Hunt with a fun and super easy diy today! As soon as I thought of making these I got a huge kick out of naming them Party Animals. Hilarious, but if you hear groaning…it’s coming from my house. Regardless of how cheesy the name is, these turn out awesome. Your kid’s favorite animal holding that birthday candle minus those red eyes that are oh so typical for plastic creatures, awesome. Supplies - plastic animalsplastic candle holdersdrill with 1/8″ drill bitpliersgold spray paint For the plastic animals, you can use any kind you can find.
Hold the animal with the pliers and drill a hole straight down, being careful not to pop out the other side. Spray paint the animals in a few light coats, rotating them to cover all sides. I also painted the candle holders to match. That’s it. {Photos by Hank + Hunt for The Sweetest Occasion.} “The Art of Clean Up”: El arte de ordenar. Posted on September 6th, 2012 This curvaceous Wisconsin home was custom built by architect Robert Harvey Oshatz. The inside features a gorgeous spiraling hem-lock roof that “sweeps over the entry and lifts the upper floor before disappearing from plain view”. The Chenequa Residence is almost completely constructed from natural materials that Mr Oshatz sourced himself and with it’s beautiful outdoor landscape, each area of this home celebrates the resounding beauty of nature. all images sourced from archdaily. To be envious is to measure yourself against another’s talents, reputation or possessions. Jealousy is closely related to envy. Here not only do you want these for yourself, but you also want to take them away from the other person. Envy and jealousy, therefore, are forms of power, ineffectual and harmful as they are, because you want to deprive others of what they have. Envy arises from feelings of inadequacy, a sense of hollowness and unworthiness. Envy is a hunger that cannot be filled. The truth is that we can never be deprived, no matter what others have. Here is a story from the Jewish tradition: A storyteller said, “Once there was a bird that lived on the far side of the mountain, a beautiful bird of many colors. “The bird was happy whenever he looked at its own feathers.
Here the storyteller stopped her story. “That’s it?” “No.” “Then she said to me, ‘You should advise the bird to raise its eyes and look at its beautiful feathers. 5 | The College Dorm You Wish You Lived In. If you’re lucky, maybe you went to a college on a campus with fancy, new college dorms. If you’re not, you may have lived in a tiny box-like room in an uninspired building. Regardless of your dorm living situation (or lack thereof), it’s hard not to be envious of the students who get to live in Copenhagen’s Tietgen Student Hall (Tietgenkollegiet), a 288,000-square-foot, seven-story building designed as a communal space for residence. Among the building’s features: All rooms face outwards, thanks to the building’s circular space (a symbol of its equality and communal nature).
That means everyone gets ample natural light. The rooms all have energy-efficient floor heating and their own showers and toilets (a big bonus for anyone who has shared a bathroom with their entire dorm hall). Every room has either a French window or a balcony. 30 kitchens in the building, each of which has four fridges and two stoves. 14 Stories That Prove Animals Have Souls.
