Day Pack Reviews: Camelbak Urban Assault & XL. Camelbak is company not short on innovation. Bringing to market a line of very handy and convenient hydration systems has benfitted us all. We got a first look at two brand new packs from Camelbak, the Urban Assault and Urban Assault XL. The Urban Assault packs at first looks like an intimidating, menacing, ready to kick some butt pack. Loaded with features and hidden surprises, the Urban Assault is prepared for your day. The Camelbak Urban Assault packs are constructed of a middle-ground 500D Cordura. As stated before, Cordura is pretty much the best material you can use, and at 500D the Urban Assault combines a good balance of strength to weight ratio. The design of the Urban Assault packs is an adventure. Even though this Urban Assault doesn’t carry the “XL” moniker, it is by no means a small pack. The Urban Assault XL is the larger brother of the Urban Assault. While the dimensions are a little different, the Urban Assault and Urban Assault XL both have the same comfort.

Cons: CAMELBAK Urban Assault Pack Preview. (note: This review was done on an early version of the bag, details may vary on the final production model.) Camelbak set out to create a convenient work and travel bag designed to be carried for everyday transportation of a laptop or a few days of traveling. They intended to produce a bag that eliminated the need to carry a laptop bag, a toted carry-on or small ruck, and assorted bags for equipment, water or other travel necessities. The Urban Assault has accomplished that goal and more. Offered in two sizes, the Urban Assault is 1850 cubic inches, while its bigger brother the Urban Assault XL is 2601 cubic inches.

We only received the smaller Urban Assault for our review, but it offers more than adequate space for 2 days worth of clothes and necessities in its main compartment. Constructed from 500D cordura the Urban Assault is light and rugged enough to withstand the torments of traveling and everyday use in an urban environment. Next is the organizational pocket.
