ICTmagic - Maths

http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/Maths A great, really well designed and free maths games website which is really fun to play. My class love it. A little time is needed to setup the logins, but well worth the effort. Also has a spelling game section. http://www.sumdog.com/ A great site for learning maths with competitive flash games against the computer, the class or the world.

Resources from TopicBox.net - free teacher resources for every UK primary school teaching topic

http://www.topicbox.net/index.php May 2012 Pleased to say we updated the look of TopicBox during April. The main difference is that for the first time we are mobile-friendly so the site works nicely on any screen size from a smartphone to any computer you happen to be using, including iPads and other tablet PCs. We have used the excellent Skeleton boilerplate to make the site display correctly on any screen size and have continued to work at reducing load times. The site relies on some relatively recent tricks for its looks - rounded corners, soft shadows, etc. It's always a good idea to get your web browser up to date for security reasons: Firefox , Chrome and Opera are all great choices and will display TopicBox correctly.

Christmas

Wikipedia has really cleaned up its act over the last couple of years to become a far more reputable site than it ever has been. As a teacher I now feel far more confident in letting my students use it for researching general information as long as they are aware of the model upon which Wikipedia is built and recommend verifying a fact from a second source such as a . edu site. I recently put this activity and worksheet together for my students to use in our reading hour to give them a platform for generating ideas for the writing hour.

ICT For Educators

http://ictforeducators.com/ I must admit I was a little too excited about getting the new iPad. I watched the announcement live via Twit.tv (2:00AM) and ordered it as soon as I could access the overloaded Apple website. My predictions were a little overblown (as I expected) but I did expect to be blown away by the screen resolution on this "resolutionary" device. My first impression when I opened the box last Friday was that it looks almost identical to my iPad 2. Despite being a little thicker (which you can't really notice) there isn't much difference at all. The screen resolution is sharper and text is easier to read, but is far less dramatic that I had expected.
