DIY wrap sandals. For awhile I’ve been wanting some cuff ankle sandals but I haven’t found a pair that I absolutely love yet so I decided to make my own version! I had some older black thong heels that I don’t really wear anymore so I added some black fabric and now they look completely different and updated! You guys can all do this and I hardly spent any money! You could even add some hardware to them like little gold studs or a chunky bow to the sides. Have fun with it!

Here’s what I did: Step 1: Gather materials. Step 2: Cut a strip about 2 feet long and 31/2 inches wide. Step 3: To clean up edges (mine were fraying like crazy) fold and iron down both sides. Step 4: Sew down both sides. Step 5: Fold over one end of the fabric to one side of the sandal and sew shut. Step 6: At the other end of the fabric sew 2 snaps on. Step 7: Put on the sandal and wrap the fabric around your ankle and measure where the other side of the snap should go.

Tie Dye Shorts. Have you ever been shopping, whether online or at the store, and come across a piece that you absolutely loved and thought, “I could make that”? As you guys probably know, DIY fashion is an easy way to save some money on new clothes by transforming an old shirt, pair of jeans, or even an old piece of fabric into a chic new outfit! Tie dye has been popular for the past few seasons, and the hottest way to wear it is through the tie-dyed denim trend! Tie-dyed shorts, in particular, are everywhere this summer – you’ve probably seen them in all of your favorite stores. This DIY will show you how to make your own pair of tie dye shorts in an easy to follow tutorial. What you’ll need: White denim shorts (If you don’t have white shorts, you can bleach some blue jean shorts until they’re white)Dyes – I used dyes I had from this friendship bracelet kit, but you can buy special tie-dye kits as well.Soda Ash – I used Tulip brand, around $4 a package.Bottles for dyeGlovesTrash Bag How To: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Painted Galaxy T-Shirt. Galaxy print tee shirts are among my favorite trends of the past year: there is something so whimsical and retro-cool about colorful clouds and stars splashed across a tee. You can find a ton of handmade galaxy shirts, shorts, or even jeans on Etsy, but these items are usually pretty out of budget for the average college student. Want to try the trend for cheap? It’s easy to make a DIY galaxy shirt. This tutorial will show you how to create your own painted galaxy print t-shirt using supplies you probably already have!

What you’ll need: Black t-shirtFabric PaintSponge brushesOld toothbrushPlastic plateCardboardOptional: Glitter How to: 1. To start, squirt your paints onto the plate to make a palette, then place your piece of cardboard inside your shirt to prevent the paint from bleeding through both sides. 2. 3. 4. 5. Voila! What do you think? Do you like the galaxy print trend? DIY Fashion | Monoxious. We interrupt this string of travel posts to bring you something that might actually be of interest. A long time ago, Dawn wrote a post about book clutches and I fancied the idea of making one myself. Fast forward to the time I visited Francfranc in Tokyo, I came across boxes that are made to resemble books and the idea of making a book clutch out of it hit me. Sourcing for the right materials itself took me a lot of time. I wanted a book clutch that resembles some of those fancy old bibles with book corners, a leather strap and clasp.

Searching for the right clasp proved difficult and I had bought clasps from Singapore, Tokyo and finally found the right one in New York. Enough babble, here is what you will need for your DIY. Materials you will need: As you can see, the book box is convenient cause it’s already hollowed out, if I weren’t picky, I could use this on its own. Using a pair of pliers, carefully fix the book corners to each corner. Screw the clasp in place. Springtime Floral Flats. Hello, fashion fans! Spring is officially here (though it’s still freezing outside in some places) and I have the perfect DIY project to put that spring (pun intended!)

In your step. Thanks to their beautiful colors and simple elegance, floral prints are always trendy for spring. I also love ballet flats for the springtime season — they’re my go-to shoe since I’m always on the run. So, I decided to combine the two to create a cute and simple DIY that captures the essence of spring: floral print flats! Note: this DIY will also work on a pair of wedges or heels if that’s more your style. You Will Need: A pair of flats (Mine were from an old Halloween costume)Floral fabric of your choice (about 1/2 a yard)Mod Podge (the regular kind works fine but you can also use the Mod Podge fabric glue)ScissorsClothespinsPaintbrushClear Acrylic Sealer (optional) Step One: First, place the fabric on a flat surface, then lay one shoe on each side. Step Two: Now you should have something that looks like this:

DIY Blog <3. Men's Short 2. A while back Miranda of One Little Minute contacted me about participating in a blogger refashion challenge--swap-style, so we all make items for each other! The challenge of the "The Button Up Refashion Swap": upcycle a men's shirt into something cute for your partner! I'm sure we've all done shirt upcycles before, but this time it's for someone else, so you've got to use their measurements and hopefully match their style a little bit!

So, wanna see what I made?? And a photo tutorial for my steps in the upcycle! I started with a basic men's shirt, sort of sateen-ey. I cut off the pieces I knew I couldn't use in the dress; I also removed the pocket (left). I cut the sleeves off AT the shoulder seam, as close as possible, leaving the seam allowances on the body of the shirt. Whew, this pic is blurry... sorry! Oops, no pic. Then I flatted out the sleeves for my bodice pieces, and pulled out a couple of patterns for the bodice. Lots of fun refashion ideas coming up!

Sandles!!! I know what you might be thinking. DIY shoe, really? I know, sounds weird. But, they are really quite easy and turned out pretty darn cute. Ok, enough talk, let me show you. Espadrilles anyone? Perfect for the weather that is right around the corner. Supplies: flip flops with thick solesscissorst-shirtxacto knifegorilla glueclamps I started out with one of these. The only thing I did differently for my DIY shoe was my strap hole did not go all the way through the flip flop so instead of securing the strings with knots through the sole, I inserted them in to slits on the sides and glued them like the thicker straps.
