Infographic: How to Implement Blended Learning 2.0 - Getting Smart by Getting Smart Staff - blended learning, DigLN, infographic. As you may have heard we released the updated Blended Learning Implementation Guide 2.0 today! The Guide and infographic walks school leaders through a four-part process for blended learning implementation that begins with creating conditions for success and planning before moving into implementation and continuous improvement.

“It has only been six months since we launched the first Guide. In that time, Rocketship has refined their blended learning model, Carpe Diem has opened in Indianapolis and Cincinnati, iPads are being delivered by the truckload to districts across the country, and schools everywhere are looking for ways to add online options,” said Tom Vander Ark, CEO of Getting Smart. “We’ve worked hard in the last six months to make important updates and to respond to your comments.” Sign In. Earlier this week I learned from Larry Ferlazzo that The New York Times Learning Network was doing a series of posts about teaching with infographics. The last installment of the series went live today with a post by Diana Laufenberg. Diana's post includes ten steps for designing lessons in which students create infographics.

Her post also includes links to some valuable information concerning the actual infographic design process. The entire Teaching With Infographics series contains a lot of very useful information for teachers who are considering using infographics in their classrooms. Infographics for Language Arts and Fine Arts can be found here, infographics for Science and Health can be found here, History and Economics infographics can be found here, and "getting started" resources can be found here. Applications for EducationI've found in my classroom that infographics can be very useful for helping students gain a better comprehension of data sets.

Innovative educators use infographics to. If you’re an innovative educator who knows your students sometimes find traditional teaching methods like textbooks and tests to be a bore, consider infographics. These great tools are making their way into more and more classrooms. Take for example the following infographic. It shows that while there are some exceptions, overall, countries that have high levels of English speaking citizens tend to have a better Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This type of infographic is a great way to ignite student’s curiosity and contemplate questions like: Why is this case? Should all countries invest in English language learning? What is the correlation between GDP and other languages? Rather than giving students assignments with answers residing in the teachers’ edition, innovative educators are using infographics like this which require students to use critical thinking skills and don’t necessarily have just one right answer.
