Outdoor tables, Yards and Woodworking. How to sew an invisible zipper. Square Bolero… Let’s call this a bolero and not a shrug.

Square Bolero…

Bolero sounds of music and latin songs and Spain, while shrug sounds like this: …a form of nonverbal communication that is performed by lifting both shoulders up, and is an indication of an individual either not knowing an answer to a question, or not caring… (Wikipedia) Last week while thrifting I found the bolero pictured above hanging sadly on its hanger. The reason why it looks shapeless on a hanger is that the bolero is actually a square and only recognizable as a shrug when worn. This one was made by H&M and loosely knitted. The “dress” on the right is actually a skirt I made this week from two black t-shirts. I love the idea of garments that drape and move and are not what they seem to be. The one pictured just above was made from thrifted t-shirts and looks very similar to the one in the top image, although it doesn’t drape quite as well.

I’ll definitely will make a bigger one to keep me warm in the cool North East summer nights. Lotta skirt pattern for girls, teenagers and adults. The Stella skirt (children) pdf sewing pattern. Whatever Dee-Dee wants, she's gonna get it: Spring Fling: A Line Pocket Skirt Tutorial

There is just something about stepping out of the Winter doldrums that makes you itchy for Spring to come around. So when we saw some flowers starting to make their appearance, we decided to throw a little party for them... And of course, what is a party without some brand new skirts to go with it... Making the A Line Pocket Skirt is super simple, and once you get the hang of it, you can whip them out in less than half an hour, adding any embellishments you want!

To make, first determine the length you want your pocket skirt to be, then add 3" to the length for seam allowance. The width of each panel should be between 15 - 17" (this is not going to be a full gathered skirt, but rather fitting instead). Cut 2 panels of fabric using these dimensions. A simple, brand new skirt for Spring that wont keep you couped up inside and in front of the sewing machine! Want to know how to make the pleated version? Luna Pants Sewing Pattern PDF. The 10-Minute Skirt (re-purposing old shirts into skirts) My little Elli (who is 7 years old and just started 2nd grade today…..ack!) Is a skirt fanatic. Well, a dress fanatic too. I know, I’ve told you that here about a trillion times, so no surprise. But while we were out school clothes shopping a few weeks ago, she would pick up a skirt that she wanted to buy, and I would almost choke while looking at the price tag. Yeah, $15 for a really simple knit or cotton skirt makes me choke. And by “no time”, I mean 8 minutes……because yep, I timed it.

And now this girl has 4 new skirts for school, that took me 40 minutes to make! And the reason they are so fast to make? Once I finished the skirts, I showed them to Elli and she shrieked….and then quickly started to decide which one she wanted to wear on the first day of school. City Gym Shorts for All Ages. I have enough expired memberships under my belt to finally admit that I am not a gym person.

City Gym Shorts for All Ages

Although you may not find me sweating on an elliptical, I haven’t completely abandoned the idea of a workout regimen. I’ve just redefined the whole concept! My StairMaster is countless flights of stairs scattered throughout my daily subway commute; my weights come in the form of two wriggling girls (often carried up the aforementioned stairs); and my hot yoga is just about anything I do in New York’s sweltering summer heat.
